The upcoming season of “Sleepy Hollow” will feel like a rebirth as it will be the first season of Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane without Nicole Beharie’s Abbie Mills.
Reports say that the new season will transition into a Washington setting as Ichabod leaves New York and the memories of Abbie behind.
Mills was killed off in the final moments of Season 3, a move that led fans of the show in a massive outrage and even questioned the show’s future.
In the Season 3 finale, Abbie sacrificed herself so The Hidden One will become powerless. This allowed Jenny to shoot the villain in the head and kill him.
At Abbie’s grave, Ichabod learns about a secret order founded by Washington from Ezra. He then vows to find the next witness after learning about Abbie’s eternal soul.
Parent Herald reports that Season 4 will see Ichabod battling a new villain and will be integrating into a new team. “True Blood” alum Janina Gavankar has also been added to the cast to portray Diana, Crane’s new partner.
Diana is a single mom and a former military officer who’s currently a Special Agent for Homeland Security.
Gavankar’s role has a tough and dominating personality with a sardonic sense of humor. Her lighter and softer side comes to show when it comes to her younger daughter.
She rarely talks about the father of her daughter but she’s clearly devoted to her child and will do anything to keep her safe from harm.
Diana doesn’t believe in the supernatural which creates a conflict with Ichabod. The two also clash because they have different ways of approaching missions — Crane is more methodical and research-focused while Diana is active and task-oriented.
After her partner goes down in the line of duty, Diana and Ichabod will find a common ground in their shared sense of loss. They will quickly realize that they have another important connection though no one expected it at first.
According to TV Line, a lot is in store for Crane in the upcoming season. He will be pitted against a billionaire Magnus Dreyfuss, played by Jeremy Davies.
The website states that Magnus is an eccentric billionaire that is hell bent on conquering worlds. The addition of Dreyfuss’ character is expected to set a more modern tone for the show.
Cartermatt reports that Magnus is a key shift away from the usual type of villains he and Abbie battled in previous seasons.
Three more actors are joining “Sleepy Hollow” reports that Rachel Melvin, Jerry MacKinnon, and Oona Yaffe have signed on for recurring roles in the Fox series.
MacKinnon will portray Jake Well, a charming but slightly obsessive research analyst who works in a forgotten federal archive cataloging reports of supernatural activities. Jake enjoys what he does because of his lifelong fascination with unexplained phenomena and weird fringe theories.
This obsession with the supernatural is the same reason why Wells is isolated and lives in his own world. His meeting with Crane will change his life. For one, Ichabod will prove to him that all the things he’s been documenting are true.
Reports say that Crane and Jake will have a solid relationship this season as the former will be Jake’s mentor figure and a much-needed ally.
Meanwhile, Melvin is set to play Alex Norwood, an engineering prodigy who works alongside Jake in the supernatural archives.
Alex handles all about artifacts and machine hence her ability to break down the most complex problems to its simplest forms.
Alex was not properly schooled but she can improvise her own weapons and gadgets when needed, a skill she learned through real-life experiences. She flaunts a cold exterior initially but once she gives you her trust, she’s loyal to a fault.
