Zap2it notes that the past two episodes of the supernatural drama series were able to recapture the magic that made “Sleepy Hollow” a massive hit during its first season.
However, the increase in ratings for the last two episodes still doesn’t look good enough to lock the show for another season.
Reports say that Fox is on the verge of axing the series after it airs its Season 3 finale. The series was an instant hit during its first season despite having only 13 episodes.
By its second season, it was extended to an 18-episode order, but showrunner Mark Goffman left the series after its sophomore year on television.
When it was renewed for a third season, Clifton Campbell took over executive producer duties. The show was moved to a Friday schedule, a dreadful time slot for series that is striving to keep its ratings up.
Despite the showrunner’s efforts to focus the main storyline to Abbie Mills and even had a crossover episode with Fox’s long-running series “Bones” for a Halloween special, the ratings and viewership of “Sleepy Hollow” still experienced a steady decline throughout Season 3.
Fox has yet to decide whether fans will still get to see Abbie and Ichabod on the small screen for Season 4 or Season 3 will be the end of their story, but the network is expected to make an announcement of renewed and cancelled TV shows in the next few weeks.
