Despite what looks like the death of Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, in episode 8 of Season 3 of the American supernatural drama TV series “Sleepy Hollow” on Fox, fans and critics of the popular show believe that she will be alive and well in the future episodes.
Titled “Novus Ordo Seclurum,” which is Latin for ‘Witness of the Apocalypse,’ it is the eighth and fall finale episode of “Sleepy Hollow” that aired on November 19. Its episode 9 would return to Fox on February 5, 2016, making for a two-month-and-a-half winter break.
Towards the last part of the episode, the lady FBI agent took a smashed shard and drained all of the Anubis energy from her sister Jenny, played by Lyndie Greenwood. However, the smashed shard was unable to hold the power of the Anubis. Sensing that it would blow up, Abbie took it inside Pandora’s evil tree, before the explosion of the glowing orb, details Mstarz.
Following the explosion, Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, realized that Jenny had survived the ordeal, but Abbie might not be as lucky, but her body was nowhere to be found. The episode closed on Ichabod, emotionally gutted and nearly collapsing from the shock of what had happened.
It was almost certain that it was not only Ichabod Crane who got the shock of his life after the explosion but most of the viewers of the TV series, who have rooted for the ‘Ichabbie’ romantic pairing.
Reasons why Abbie is alive
Although the producers and showrunner would like fans and viewers to think and ponder on the thought that Abbie Mills may have indeed died on the explosion, Design & Trend cited five reasons why she is alive and well.
Accordingly, first among those is that Abbie Mills is a part of the two witnesses of the apocalypse, the other one being Ichabod Crane. They believe that the show cannot continue with only half of the two witnesses. “Sleepy Hollow” also has a history of killing off characters but eventually bringing them to life again, but it would not happen to Abbie.
Showrunner Clifton Campbell seems to be evading questions on Abbie’s death so obviously, mum is the word because he does not want to spoil anything for the second half of Season 3 of “Sleepy Hollow.”
The third reason is the fact that Abbie is part of ‘Ichabbie’ and there is nothing to say beyond their great chemistry and supernatural partnership, making them a perfect couple.
Nicole Beharie, the actress who plays the role of Abbie, has also not stated recently that she will be leaving the show. It seems that she is definitely not going anywhere.
And finally, Ezra Mills, played by James McDaniel, was recently introduced into the show as the doting father of Abbie and Jenny. The character would be useless without Abbie Mills so the writings are basically on the wall indicating that the show’s female protagonist is well and alive.
Not good for the show
It would really be a big heartbreaker for fans of the TV series if showrunner Clifton Campbell writes off the character of Abbie Mills because it would not be good for the show too.
Apparently, the show is just putting a question mark by putting Abbie’s fate hanging in the balance so that viewers would have something big to look forward to when “Sleepy Hollow” resumes after its customary winter break.
The disappearance of Abbie towards the end also came at an awfully ill-timed moment because Ichabod and Joe just had some meaty conversations about people being in love.
Ichabod told Joe that he and Abbie have fallen in love. He went on to say that everyone has fallen in love at some point in their life and people do some stupid things sometimes for that very important person who is an important touchstone part of their life.
