Capt. Frank Irving was a staple character in the American supernatural drama TV series “Sleepy Hollow” during its first two seasons and although a fan-favorite, the producers eventually decided to do away with him.
Actor Orlando Jones, who took on the role of Capt. Frank Irving, believes that the chances of his character coming back to “Sleepy Hollow” are very slim, but he would not mind coming in as a guest star if given the chance.
In a recent Q&A with fans, Jones was quoted as saying that maybe they would ask him to come back and he would love to do a guest appearance on “Sleepy Hollow.”
While his optimism seems infectious enough, the possibility was eventually clouded in gloom when he, later on, said that he does not think Capt. Irving is coming back because the producers changed the show, notes the International Business Times.
He also added that the producers kind of asked him to leave, which somehow shattered fans’ hopes of his character returning in “Sleepy Hollow.”
Doesn’t feel bad at all
It should be noted however that when he said that he was asked to leave, Jones seems to have no gripe at all because he also said that the creators of “Sleepy Hollow” are awesome guys.
He justified his departure by saying that the creators did not really see a place for Frank Irving anymore in “Sleepy Hollow.”
Jones explained that when they started the show three years ago, there was a headless horseman and he has a shotgun. He said that in the absence of the headless horseman and the demon Moloch, who was killed in Season 2, there is nobody that Frank Irving would be fighting against, details TV Line.
Those who have been following the series right from the beginning know that Frank Irving was one of the main characters on “Sleepy Hollow” for the first two years. During the Season 3 premiere of “Sleepy Hollow” in October, it was revealed that Frank left town with his family to try and protect them.
Scheduling conflicts
Producers also did not say anything official about the departure of Orlando Jones from “Sleepy Hollow.”
In fact, when showrunner Cliff Campbell was asked about it, he said that they intended to bring Capt. Irving back to finish his storyline, but Jones absence was due to scheduling conflicts more than anything.
Campbell was also quoted in an interview as saying that for a handful of reasons, it became difficult to schedule and work things out.
As far as the Season 3 plotline goes, despite what looks like the death of Abbie Mills, played by Nicole Beharie, in episode 8 of Season 3 of “Sleepy Hollow” on Fox, fans and critics of the popular show believe that she will be alive and well in the future episodes.
Titled “Novus Ordo Seclurum” which is Latin for ‘Witness of the Apocalypse’ is the eighth and fall finale episode of “Sleepy Hollow” that aired on November 19. Its episode 9 would return to Fox on February 5, 2016, making for a two-month-and-a-half winter break.
The lady FBI agent took a smashed shard and drained all of the Anubis energy from her sister Jenny, played by Lyndie Greenwood. However, the smashed shard was unable to hold the power of the Anubis. Sensing that it would blow up, Abbie took it inside Pandora’s evil tree, before the explosion of the glowing orb.
Following the explosion, Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, realized that Jenny had survived the ordeal, but Abbie might not be as lucky, but her body was nowhere to be found. The episode closed on Ichabod, emotionally gutted and nearly collapsing from the shock of what had happened.
It was almost certain that it was not only Ichabod Crane who got the shock of his life after the explosion but most of the viewers of the TV series, who have rooted for the ‘Ichabbie’ romantic pairing.
