Sister Wives Season 7 Premiere Episode Featured How Meri’s Catfishing Scandal Has Shaken the Polygamist Brown Family

Season 7 of the American family reality TV series “Sister Wives” premiered on TLC on May 8 and it picked up from where the Season 6 finale left off showing the polygamist Brown family dealing with the implications and impact of Meri’s catfishing scandal last year.

If any, the premiere episode showed how the scandal has shaken the Brown household even as they all continue to live with its aftermaths in the subsequent episodes of Season 7.

The premiere episode of Season 7 of “Sister Wives” was entitled “Catfishing Fallout” so the viewers knew right away that it shall focus on how the Brown family ominously reeled from Meri’s recent admission that she fell victim to catfishing online to someone whom she thought to be a man but turned out to be a woman, details the Christian Today.

The episode showed Kody and his four wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn – going through counseling sessions to get over the pain that the controversy has brought to the family.

Falling out in the family

Prior to the Season 7 premiere of “Sister Wives,” there have been reports saying that Kody Brown and his first wife Meri Barber have been at odds since last year which is actually the reason why Meri got entangled in a catfishing scandal.

Kody felt bad about the whole thing because it was tantamount to Meri cheating on him. But during an interview, Meri admitted that there was no physical contact between her and the perpetrator of the catfishing since she is actually a woman pretending to be a man.

There were also reports saying that Kody can no longer stand Meri while he only treats his second wife Janelle as a close friend. Christine, his third wife, seems to have a problem with him as well.

Accordingly, each of the three spiritual wives in the polygamous marriage already has their one foot out of the door and is ready to leave for good.

But instead of responding directly to the rumors, Kodi and Meri decided instead to celebrate their 26th anniversary recently to disqualify all the rumors that their family is falling apart.

Meri greeted her husband with a tweet on April 21 and expressed how much they have gone through together, including memories and experiences. She ended her tweet with a hashtag of #26Years.

The following day, Meri posted a photo again on Twitter showing the whole Brown family looking very happy. She captioned her image post by saying that the Brown family was on a road trip.

All for the sake of the show

It was Kendra Pollard-Parra, a friend of Robyn Sullivan, the fourth and legal wife of Kody, who revealed in a recent interview, that the happiness that the Brown family are showing on the TV series is fake and is being done for the sake of the show.

Kendra made the disclosure after she got upset when Kody allegedly attempted to propose to her and attempted to make her his fifth wife right in front of her friend Robyn.

The second episode of “Sister Wives” Season 7 shall air on May 15 with the title “Pawn Shops and Polygamy Perks” which hints of some possible financial woes for the Brown family.

Sister Wives Season 6

While most critics would not agree outright to the revelation made by Kendra Pollard-Parra that everything in “Sister Wives” is fake and all for the sake of the show, most of them also believe that the Browns are simply trying to convince people and viewers that sharing one douchy husband among four miserable-looking women is a great way of life, notes The Ashley’s Reality Roundup.

Other than the catfishing scandal, there is also a light moment in the premiere episode of “Sister Wives” Season 7 when the family started discussing the planned marriage of Maddie, the eldest daughter of Kody and Janelle, and her boyfriend Caleb.

It can be recalled that in Season 6, Caleb asked Kody’s permission to marry Maddie where Kody seems to be simply turning over her daughter to Caleb like a sack of potatoes.

Incidentally, Caleb is the brother of Kody’s brother’s wife, so they are related by affinity.

Meanwhile, Robyn seems to be very upset and extremely angry over the whole catfishing scandal. While she and Meri used to be the best of friends on most of the things in the past, it seems that it is no longer the case in Season 7.

Christine was then shown saying that Robyn is mad because she felt betrayed. But Meri’s biggest problem is with Kody who admitted that she and Meri have struggled for a very long time.

Meri was also quoted as saying that there were times that she was very angry at Kody. It appears to be a stressful situation for Season 7 of “Sister Wives” right off the bat.

The Brown family has publicly supported Meri since the catfishing scandal but many viewers question whether the purpose of such support is genuine or merely meant to keep the income of the show.

In order to move on better from the emotional debacle, the entire “Sister Wives” family is currently attending therapy to get past the difficult time in their lives, which was also shown during the Season 7 premiere episode.

  1. I think Mary is lying to minimize what she did. Mary always tries to make herself the center of attention. Never trusted her. To many tears to much trauma.

  2. RELLY: TLC. QUIT. Just stop it, please “the Learning channel” has been in disgrace for many years-it’s just a money making deal forTLC w/no reguard for the families it distroys. In Fact, I believe after so many failures, that TLC promotes BAD family choices in the name of money: Kate and her litter- artificially implanted sextuplulants that TLC was not content to ruin the family but went on to make sure that Kate believed the public CARED that she lied, stole, and was paid money to ignore her manmade kids. really? Look at the little people, now divorced, just like everyone that accepts a contract w/TLC, and OMG – did anyone pay attention to Honey Boo Boo and the DUGGARS? Different ends of the spectrum and still using little kids for sex. Child ABUSERS that TLC STILL supports. AND then there’s this mess:4 lonely overweight women living w/a really strange man involved in a cult w/a really weird Robyn who’s popping them out to TLC’s tune. Just turn it off. I did.
