Jackie Overton, who pretended to be Sam Cooper, and catfished Meri Barber Brown, obviously hates everything about the polygamous family of Kody Brown.
It is likely that Overton does not share the same views of the Browns when it comes to marriage the way most Americans do. In fact, in the US, polygamy is against the law. The only reason why the Browns are able to circumvent the law is because patriarch Kody Brown is officially married to only one of his four wives. The three others are basically based on spiritual unions.
He was married to his first wife Meri Barber for 25 years before they finally divorced late in 2015 so that he can marry Robyn Sullivan, his fourth wife, and adopt her three kids by her first marriage.
Thus, Kody did not break any law on multiple marriages. That seems to be the impetus of Jackie Overton to know more about the Brown family perhaps with the notion of finding out how ridiculous their set-up could be that she decided to catfish on Meri, who at that time was already reeling from her divorce with Kody.
If she was merely interested in fooling Meri, Overton would not have gone to the extent of pretending to be a guy interested in a lonely and seemingly desperate housewife. But instead, she realized that she could squeeze more information from Meri if she would pretend to be a man who wants to offer a shoulder to cry on to a grieving and lonely housewife.
For some reasons, Season 7 of the American family reality TV series “Sister Wives” on TLC was able to turn the tables on the catfisher because she resorted to treachery and fraud to find out more information about the Brown family and used it to publish a book for her own benefit.
Meri has been warned
The Season 7 finale of “Sister Wives” was aired on TLC on June 26 with a tell-all special where host Erica Hill interviewed all of the Brown family from Kody down to his young children.
One of the interesting things that Erica learned was the interview with Mariah Brown, the lone daughter of Meri and Kody.
She revealed that she knew about her mother’s online affair right from the get-go and she warned her Mom and tried to stop her as well. But Meri was insistent and she continued with her online affair with Sam Cooper, reports the Parent Herald.
Mariah revealed to Erica that she already knew what was happening with her mom and her online friend. She tried to talk her out of it and also attempted not to make it happen but Meri was stubborn and did it anyway. The 21-year-old also felt bad that her mother did not listen to her.
Kody Brown was the first to recognize that his family has plenty of haters. In the interview with Erica Hill, he said that some people come into their lives and they messed with their marriage and he thinks that Jackie Overton is one certified hater of the Brown family, notes the Ecumenical News.
Knows her way around the family
Erica Hill certainly knows her way around the polygamous Brown family as she pried with consent regarding the recent birth, engagements, and weddings in the family and more importantly, the catfishing scandal of Meri Barber Brown that rocked the foundation of the family.
Interestingly, Kody had some juicy things to say during the interview with Erica including his plan to stop having children and Baby Ariella would be the last.
At 47 years old, Kody says he is old enough and having 18 children from four different wives is more than enough for him. He, however, said that it is not for him to decide but he assured that there is no pressure on his fourth and youngest wife Robyn Sullivan Brown to get pregnant again.
Tell all? More like tell nothing. They still cling to this happy family charade. It’s pathetic.
