Meri’s relationships with the other wives of Kody Brown were greatly strained by her admission to the catfishing scandal during last year’s Season 6 of the American reality TV series “Sister Wives.”
But none can be worse with what happened to her and second wife Janelle as they have been taking an indirect swipe with one another ever since.
During the third episode of “Sister Wives” Season 7 that aired on May 22 on TLC, Meri and Janelle were trying their best to suppress each other’s urge to hit the other with one of Kody’s hairbrushes, notes The Ashley’s Reality Roundup..
The two of the four wives decide eventually that the best way for them to pick up the pieces of their broken relationship is to spray paint coffee cans and take turns stuffing fake flowers into them.
Their outputs were used to decorate the tables for the big Brown family Thanksgiving dinner that was also featured during the episode.
During the second episode of “Sister Wives,” Meri and Janelle went to therapy where they discussed that they can’t stand each other.
Meri was quoted as saying to the therapist that she and Janelle have a different kind of tension between them. She said that while they used to have a good sister-wife relationship, they don’t have a deep friendship.
Defending herself
The latest episode of “Sister Wives” Season 7 also saw Meri defending herself from accusations and insinuations that she cheated on Kody in the aftermath of her infamous catfishing scandal last year, reports Design & Trend.
Meri had an online affair with a woman who posed as a man. The woman turned out to be the catfisher Jacquelyn ‘Jackie’ Overton, who wrote a book titled “Almost Meri’d” that narrated her online relationship with the reality TV star.
While the relationship was merely online and there was no physical contact between Meri and Overton, some critics still brand Meri as an adulterer who cheated on the man she has been with for over 25 years.
But Meri defended herself by posting a cryptic message on her Twitter account on May 23 saying that she was merely Overton’s victim and not her lover.
She also posted a message about cyber stalking and cyber stalkers and urged her followers on the social media app to stop disclosing information about themselves online.
She said that people should be in the know by protecting themselves and their family and friends.
Meri also clarified that the TLC special “Catching the Catfisher” is not about her but about protecting the lives of the viewers, their families, and loved ones.
Dealing with the aftermath of the catfishing scandal
Season 7 of “Sister Wives” premiered on May 8 and it picked up from where the Season 6 finale showing the polygamist Brown family dealing with the implications and impact of Meri’s catfishing scandal last year.
If any, the premiere episode showed how the scandal shook the Brown household even as they all continue to live with its aftermaths in the subsequent episodes of Season 7.
The premiere episode of Season 7 of “Sister Wives” was entitled “Catfishing Fallout” so the viewers knew right away that it will focus on how the Brown family ominously reeled from Meri’s recent admission that she fell victim to catfishing online to someone whom she thought to be a man but turned out to be a woman.
The episode showed Kody and his four wives – Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn – going through counseling sessions to get over the pain that the controversy has brought to the family.
Prior to the Season 7 premiere of “Sister Wives,” there have been reports saying that Kody Brown and his first wife Meri Barber have been at odds since last year which is actually the reason why Meri got entangled in a catfishing scandal.
