Even though the title for the said project hasn’t been confirmed, we can all assume that it is going to be Cameron’s Avatar sequel. This is primarily because he doesn’t have any other undated projects that people know of right now. Moreover, it complied with Fox’s earlier projection of the Avatar 2 release date.
Back in April, Fox revealed in CinemaCon that it had planned to bring out Avatar 2 in 2018 December and that would be followed by Avatar 3 in 2020, 4 in 2022 and 5 in 2023. Weaver had open doubts about the validity of its release date when she was asked about it.
Sadly, the fact that Avatar 2 doesn’t have a start date right now doesn’t make it sound like we can expect it to be released within two years. However, Weaver is quite sure that the payoff will be quite worth it. She praised Cameron during an earlier interview.
According to her, Cameron did a lot of heavy lifting in the first movie, where he established the family and the relationships all around the world, and now he can go ahead and play with it. Cameron also mentioned that it would be more like a family saga regarding the struggle with human beings. Apparently, Cameron has the idea of shooting all four films simultaneously.
