Seeing a singer/songwriter acting a little bit strange might not be anything new to the world that we currently live in, but when it comes to over the top strange, there is Sia. Sia is a singer that has been making the top headlines for a few months because she is not one to even show her face, even when on stage on Saturday Night Live for that matter. The singer is from Austaila and was born back in 1975, but for much of her professional life, she has not shown her face.
The acts have created plenty of buzz around her personality and that was not any different when it was time to attend the Oscars this year. The biggest awards show of them all is attended by hundreds of top actors, actresses, singers, models and other big names each year to see what movies make it to the top in terms of awards. Sia released her first album back in 2000 under the Sony Music label, but that was not her first. She released a studio album back in 1997 when her first band split up.
If you are not familiar with Sia’s music, you could say that it is a blend of funk, soul and hip hop at its core and it is artistically built upon from that. After one of her lovers was killed after a car accident, Sia’s world was turned upside down, but she continued to make music as a way to heal herself. It was back in 2010 that she “retired” from performing and touring altogether due to, what her website called, “poor health”.
The singer claimed that she suffered from lethargy and panic attacks that kept her from leaving her home. Her Twitter account was one place that she could still interact with humans and it was there that she announced that she was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease. She underwent thyroid replacement therapy and after some well needed rest, she was back n on the interview circuit.
Seeing Sia in public has become more common place now, but it was usually while she was wearing a huge “face wig”, presumably to hide herself. Last week, the singer had decided to leave her huge wig at home while attending the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party last week. She was seen posing for photos and chatting it up with others at the party, which is a different sight to see for many that know Sia.
