Shirley Manson Says Beyonce Does Not Need Kanye West Fighting on Her Behalf

Singer Shirley Manson simply has had enough of Kanye West’s award bratty antics and post-event interviews.

The front person for the band Garbage has taken the cudgels for Beck Hansen, the Album of the Year winner during the 57th Grammy Awards, who was very humble even when Kanye West tried to do a repeat of his infamous 2009 stage invasion of Taylor Swift during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Shirley said that she is pretty sure and certain that Beyonce does not need a Kanye West to fight any sort of battles on her account because she is Beyonce and she got everything covered perfectly well on her own, details AJC.com.

Unlike Kanye West who had a post-Grammys interview by E! News, Manson decided to make her strong position against the bratty antics of Kim Kardashian’s rapper-husband through an open letter.

Disrespecting artistry

Contrary to what Kanye West said that Beck needs to respect artistry by giving his award to Beyonce, Shirley Manson directly pointed to the rapper as the one who is disrespecting artistry.

Manson explained that Kanye was not just showing disrespect for his own remarkable talents, he is also disrespecting the talent, hard work, and tenacity of all the artists when he went so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like Beck.

Beck’s “Morning Phase” won the Album of the Year award during the 57th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Shirley went on to say that Kanye West has made himself look small, petty and spoilt. She explained that in attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, the rapper is actually making a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including Kanye’s own.

Manson ended his open letter by urging Kanye to grow up and stop throwing his toys around. She said that Kanye is just making himself looking like a complete idiot in what he just did and said after the Grammys.

Repeat performance

Kanye West appears to have developed the bad habit of coming to the stage every time someone else got the award other than Beyonce, whom he is obviously rooting for to win.

He likes doing the stage invasion especially when he doesn’t agree with who win the awards. Back in 2009, he also stormed the stage when Taylor Swift was making her acceptance speech for the Best Female Video during the MTV Video Music Awards. He then said that he felt that the best female video of all time was that of Beyonce.

He did it again at the Grammys when Beck was already making his acceptance speech for the Album of the Year award. But instead of stealing the mic from Beck, the way he did to Taylor Swift almost six years ago, Kanye West decided against it, turn his back and went back to his seat.
