‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Featured Holmes Acting Like James Bond More than the Brainy Sleuth He was Known to Be, Note Critics!

Instead of peppering viewers of “Sherlock” with trailers of what they should expect in Season 4, BBC One has been dropping clues instead on a regular basis before the show’s official airing.

On November 30, the British TV network revealed an animated image that owes something of a debt to the Season 3 poster of “Mad Men.”

Titled as the “Rising Tide,” the teaser showed Benedict Cumberbatch’s eponymous high-functioning sociopath and Martin Freeman’s Dr. John Watson looking pensive inside 221B Baker Street as water listlessly floods the flat.

The week before that, an image was also released showing Sherlock staring quizzically at Watson’s new baby and included the first look at new bad guy Toby Jones, who shall be playing Culverton Smith.

Culverton Smith is a character from Arthur Conan Doyle’s short story, “The Adventures of the Dying Detective.”

BBC One made the announcement about “Sherlock” Season 4 during the final night of the Great British Bake Off 2016. After Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc announced the winner, BBC One aired a teaser trailer of “Sherlock” Season 4.

Most of the footage in the teaser trailer has already been seen as early as during the San Diego ComicCon held in July.

Hours before the airing of the trailer at the Great British Bake Off 2016, BBC One has already shared it on Twitter, alongside an image of Sherlock’s violin.
