Based on last week’s teaser promo released by NBC for “Shades of Blue” Season 2, it seems clear that the previous rumors are on target in saying that it would be darker compared to the previous season.
The trailer is also clear in pointing out the strained relationship between Harlee Santos played by Jennifer Lopez, and her mentor and boss at the NYPD 64th Precinct, Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Ray Liotta.
Ir can be recalled that Season 1 ended with Matt Wozniak finally founding out about the betrayal of Harlee Santos not only to him but to the entire members of the 64th Precinct. While Wozniak did say that he understood and forgave Harlee for what she has done, it seems that it is not going to be the case come Season 2 of “Shades of Blue.”
Apparently, Harlee would also be in personally dealing with the aftermath of her betrayal because she will also have to deal with her conscience in selling out Matt Wozniak to the FBI despite and her corrupt boss being very good to her and her daughter Christina, played by Sarah Jeffrey.
As a single mother, Harlee’s existence is anchored on the goal of providing for her daughter and ensure that she gets a good future by finishing her education. Knowing how Harlee works hard to earn her keeps, Wozniak also saw to it that he also helps her out in whatever way he can.
Wozniak and Santos had established a sort of father-daughter bond and the lieutenant trust Harlee among any of his team members in the NYPD 64th Precinct.
However, little did Wozniak know that Santos is already stabbing him at the back by reporting and disclosing all the information about his illegal activities to the FBI. Though skeptical about selling Wozniak, Harlee had no other choice because the FBI threatens to put her in jail and thus throw away the future of Christina to the gutter.
Towards the end of Season 1, Wozniak realized that it was Santos who was the FBI mole in his team but still found a way to understand and forgive her for what she has done.
However, come the second season, it will be a different story already as reports have it that Wozniak will plot his revenge against Santos.
According to rumors, Wozniak will be holding a grudge to Santos and the second season of “Shades of Blue” will show how the two will think and act to confront each other and soon escape both of the problems that left their relationship in shambles.
Apparently, Season 2 shall be focusing on the whole new world of Wozniak and Santos as gleaned on the new promo where it highlighted deception. It would be interesting to find out which of the two would come out victorious in the vicious game of betrayal.
However, there are also rumors saying that Wozniak and Santos could still mend fences despite their broken bond and serve as a true test to the level of their friendship, shown right on the debut season of “Shades of Blue.”
In a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez said that she had fun playing the role of Harlee Santos being caught between doing the right thing to protect herself and her daughter instead of continuing to do the wrong things and turn a blind eye on it.
