Season 2 of the American crime drama TV series “Shades of Blue” on NBC has been previously rumored to be released this month but it seems unlikely already at this point.
The likelihood now is that the second season of the hit show will air on NBC early next year, the way it did with its debut season, which premiered on January 7 this year.
Based on the Season 1 finale of “Shades of Blue,” Harlee Santos, played by Jennifer Lopez, a New York Police Department (NYPD) detective who was assigned to the FBI anti-corruption task force, killed her estranged partner Miguel Zepeda, played by Antonio Jaramillo, after the latter tried to rape her, details the International Business Times.
Harlee Santos is a corrupt officer of the NYPD 64th Precinct in Brooklyn and also the FBI informant for the anti-corruption task force.
Her corruption stems from her financial and family problems owing to the fact that she is the single mother of 17-year-old Cristina, whose father was abusive so when he got released from prison, Harlee framed him for murder.
Santos joined the crew of Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Ray Liotta, after he helped her cover up her frame job for her abusive partner. Wozniak is the corrupt commander of the 64th Precinct and is the main target of the FBI anti-corruption investigation.
She was eventually arrested by the FBI in an anti-corruption investigation but she becomes a reluctant informant against Wozniak in exchange for immunity.
Wozniak is very close to Santos, whom the former considers a daughter. He is bisexual and he was married to Linda and had an affair with Donnie before the latter got killed by Loman in self-defense.
His daughter was said to be clinically depressed and committed suicide at the age of 19.
Coming clean about it
During the Season 1 finale, Harlee Santos decided to come clean to Wozniak by detailing her involvement with FBI Special Agent Robert Stahl, played by Warren Kole, and the FBI.
Wozniak told Santos that he has already forgiven her. Sensing that there is the apparent trust given to her by Wozniak, Harlee shared some vital intel to her commander that would enable him to find ways to escape detection by the FBI anti-corruption task force.
As to what was the intel shared by Harlee to Wozniak would be known once Season 2 of “Shades of Blue” returns to NBC early next year.
What seems clear is that Harlee Santos still has her emotional attachment and respect to her father figure in Wozniak and just does not want him to go down with the ongoing investigation. That’s in addition to the possibility that if Wozniak goes down in the FBI investigation, he is likely to bring everyone with him on his way down, including Harlee.
Returning to Queens
The triple-threat celebrity was seen last month filming some scenes in the Queens, which is quite near to the place where she grew up, the Bronx.
J-Lo was spotted filming at the corner of the 31st Road and 31st Avenue but not much photos were shared by those who were able to see it because the area was cordoned off from the public.
She was also seen in Brooklyn a few days before and it seems that filming for “Shades of Blue” has taken much of her summer time.
Despite her busy filming schedule in New York last summer, Jennifer Lopez still managed to perform at her music residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, details Just Jared.
When she was sighted at Brooklyn, co-star Ray Liotta was also with her and they seem to be doing a scene around Prospect Park.
The actor even took to Twitter on that very same day to share a behind-the-scene picture of himself and the “Booty” singer while filming for “Shades of Blue” Season 2.
“Shades of Blue” was renewed for Season 2 on February 5, 2016, or barely four episodes into its 13-episode premiere season. Its second season shall also have 13 episodes.
