‘Shades of Blue’ Season 2 Jennifer Lopez Hints that Matt Wozniak and His Team at NYPD 64th Precinct are Going to be Back

During the Season 1 finale of the American crime drama TV series “Shades of Blue” on NBC, it was shown that Lieutenant Matt Wozniak, played by Ray Liotta, of the New York Police Department (NYPD) 64th Precinct, decided to come clean of the corruption in his team.

He also learned that it was Harlee Santos, played by Jennifer Lopez, by her own admission, that she was the mole in her team as placed by the FBI anti-corruption task force.

It seems clear that Matt Wozniak decided to surrender to the FBI along with the money that he and his team robbed from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) on the condition that the bureau spares his team at NYPD 64th Precinct of any liability.

It was also very likely that Wozniak would serve jail time because of his corruption activities in the NYPD 64th Precinct although it was made clear in Season 1 of “Shades of Blue” that the bigger fish is the DEA official and an Internal Affairs officer of the NYPD, who happened to be his lover too.

In the end, the DEA official slipped out of the country while the Internal Affair officer was killed by Michael Loman, played by Dayo Okeniyi, the rookie member of Wozniak’s team in the NYPD 64th Precinct, during an ensuing confrontation.

A welcome surprise

Thus, it comes as a surprise that when Jennifer Lopez shared recently some photos of the behind-the-set filming of “Shades of Blue” Season 2, one of the images featured Ray Liotta and Dayo Okeniyi along with some of the male crew. It obviously hinted that for some reason, or some kind of plea bargaining deal, Matt Wozniak shall return to Season 2 of “Shades of Blue,” reports the International Business Times.

One of the photos shared by Jennifer Lopez also featured herself as Harlee Santos, Drea de Matteo as Tess Nazario, and Vincent Laresca as Carlos Espada, wearing body shields while on their latest mission.

It seems that from being intelligence officers of the NYPD, they were relegated to police work on the ground as some sort of demotion for their involvement in corruption in the force in the past.

What seems clear is that Matt Wozniak and his team are all going to be back in Season 2 of “Shades of Blue.” Apparently, the executive producers do not want to veer away so much from the storyline following the success of Season 1 because that may cause a shift in viewership and result to drop in ratings.

The return of the main cast of characters of “Shades of Blue” is also a welcome surprise to its viewers and fans and the challenge for the writers and showrunners is to come up with a very good storyline to sustain the show’s good run during its debut season.

The showrunners have decided to apply the mantra that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it on the second season of “Shades of Blue” when it premieres on NBC early next year.

Heating up the relationship

In a recent photo from the set of “Shades of Blue,” J-Lo was also spotted filming in New York City with her co-star Gino Anthony Pesi, who plays Assistant District Attorney James Nava in the TV series, reports Counsel & Heal.

The photo shows Harlee and James in deep conversation, which fans have speculated to be something about their on-and-off relationship especially in light of reports that Pesi has already been promoted to series regular for “Shades of Blue” Season 2.

Another photo featured Harlee and James kissing, with the latter holding her close to him. Reports have it that James cannot be 100% sure that his relationship with Harlee will progress since Harlee has been sharing their intimate conversations with her colleagues in the NYPD 64th Precinct.
