It managed to reach #9 in iTunes, among others, and Gomez has generally been enjoying more success for her music than some of her peers.
The singer chose the iHeartMedia Music Summit as the scene for the major announcement of her next single, called “Same Old Love”. Producers on the track were Benny Blanco and Stargate, and seeing those names combined with the talent of Selena Gomez obviously generated a lot of hype very fast. Some critics have pointed out that the duo between Benny Blanco and Stargate already has a solid reputation for their previous work, and Gomez herself has been quite successful in the genre where they dominate, so this should be an interesting piece.
Meanwhile, “Good For You” is still on the radio very often, and it doesn’t look like the song’s popularity is going to die down anytime soon. At least, probably not until Gomez releases her next single, but we don’t know what her schedule is for her future releases. It’s very likely that Gomez herself may not have a lot of control over that aspect of her music, and she’s more focused on the actual performance rather than marketing and distribution.
For all we know, she might have a lot of work lined up behind the scenes but is unable to release it right now due to her producer’s schedule. The music industry works in strange ways, and sometimes the smarter move is to release tracks gradually, building up sufficient hype between them in order to let people truly take in the quality of the artist and appreciate them.
The launch date for “Same Old Love” on the radio is not known yet, and some critics have noted that Interscope are currently actively promoting “Same Old Love”, so it will likely be a while before the new song comes out. The studio is probably keeping a close eye on the popularity rankings of the current track and they are waiting for interest in it to die down a little before putting out another one.
On the social front, Kylie Jenner might have the desire to see Selena Gomez at her birthday party, according to rumors.
