Selena Gomez is no enemy of the Chinese government and she has a very good fan base in China too.
It is for this reason that she actually scheduled concert tour dates in China this coming August. Unfortunately, those performances in China are not going to happen anymore after the government decided to ban her and cancel her concert tours in the country.
Accordingly, the Chinese government decided to ban her from China because she had a meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, that did not sit well with Chinese officials, reports Next Shark.
The Dalai Lama is actually a Chinese who fled into exile in India following an unsuccessful revolt against the Chinese rule back in 1959. The spiritual leader is known to be an advocate for autonomy for Tibet as well as for his differing views of reincarnation in Tibetan Buddhism.
The unfortunate part for Selena is that her meeting with the Dalai Lama did not take place early this year or last year. It happened two years ago when she and the Dalai Lama hosted a youth empowerment project called “We Day” in Vancouver, Canada.
Following the event, Selena uploaded the picture on her Twitter account and captioned it with ‘words of wisdom.’ According to reports, it was based on her Twitter post that the Chinese government decided to ban her from the country and cancel all her upcoming shows.
A show that would have made her a star
Everyone knows that Selena Gomez became a star as a Disney actress with her role on “Wizards of Waverly Place.”
However, according to latest reports, she was actually part of a show on the same network that could have made her a big star earlier.
Selena was taken in to be a part of the spinoff show of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” called “Arwin” that focused on the lovable and laughable engineer in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” named Arwin Hochause.
The series focused on Arwin after he left the Tipton Hotel to move in with his sister and help her raise her three kids. But the show was eventually re-titled to “Housebroken.”
It did not feature the stars of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” in twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse, but it had Gomez as one of Arwin’s nieces along with “Pretty Little Liars” star Nia Peeples and Samantha Droke, details MTV.
Disney eventually filmed a pilot episode of “Housebroken” in 2007 but later on pulled the plug on the series and she landed the role in “Wizards of Waverly Place” which premiered later in the same year.
The pilot episode of “Housebroken” never aired on Disney Channel but surprisingly, it recently came out on YouTube and showed Gomez’s performance as a mirror-obsessed teen in the aborted series.
Not into each other
Meanwhile, because of their recent collaboration, Selena and Charlie Puth have sparked dating rumors but both Selena and Charlie clarified that they are not into each other.
Charlie said that he is single and that the collaboration with Selena was purely professional. Selena is also seeing Niall Horan of One Direction so entering into a relationship with Puth in a drop of a hat would put her in a bad light.
In other related news, Selena Gomez has made a tell-all interview in W magazine last month focusing on her evolution from the sidelines into becoming the most popular girl in America.
