The cast members and executive producer, Nicholas Wootton, revealed details on what to expect for the Season 2 of the hit American TV series “Scorpion.”
Along with Wootton, also present at the ComicCon 2015 “Scorpion” panel were Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick, Katharine Mcphee, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Jadyn Wong. The show’s boss revealed that rock star Gene Simmons will be making a cameo appearance in the Season 2 premiere, TV Guide reported.
Simmons was also at the ComicCon, signing autographs, as Wootton encouraged attendees to approach the rock star. Another revelation was that after the “Supergirl” premiere, the “Scorpion” will televise a 90-minute mega-episode. Wootton said that the mega-episode is going to be big and incredible for them.
The show’s boss also hinted that McPhee, who plays the role of Paige Dineen in the TV series, might sing again. McPhee was a former runner-up at “American Idol.”
There were six things that were learned from the “Scorpion” ComicCon panel: that Season 2 will have some epic special episodes aside from the 90-minute special; the cast is as tight as it is in the TV series; Wootton promised more actions for Season 2; the cast joked about their slow-paced love life; they were not always geniuses as Gabel’s worst subject is science; and the cast reflected on their characters.
The ComicCon “Scorpions” event was also fun as the stars talked about what to expect for Season 2, the school subject that they had difficulties with, and how they were excited working with everyone. There were also questions about the relationship of the characters in the TV series, International Business Times noted. The most notable on the show is the relationship of Toby Curtis and Happy Quinn played by Thomas and Wong, respectively.
Thomas said that they can stop a bomb but can’t hold a relationship in regards to the Curtis-Quinn love affair. The bond between Curtis and Quinn is not strong at the start, but as the series goes on, they eventually developed a friendship, eventually becoming best of friends. They even shared a kiss in one episode.
There is also the romance between Walter O’Brien and Paige Dineen who are played by Gabel and McPhee, respectively. Dineen appeared to have affection for O’Brien but the latter, being a nerd, does not believe in love and emotions. McPhee said that thoughts on O’Brien is brewing on Dineen’s mind as the drama picks up from the Season 1 series finale. Stars of the TV series said the fans should watch out about what is going to happen to the complicated relationships in the show.
Wootton said that the next season should provide more arcs because they have planned the entire template as opposed to last season when they only had the first 13 episodes planned.
Moreover, fans of “Scorpion” has been excited for the Season 2 premiere as several of them expressed their excitement on the official Facebook page of the TV series. One fan commented on Facebook and said that he loves “Scorpion” and he has been watching the replays repeatedly. Another fan said he cannot wait for the series to come back on the small screen.
According to the official site of CBS, “Scorpion” is the third most-watched freshman TV series in CBS behind “NCIS: New Orleans,” and “Madam Secretary.”
“Scorpion” averaged 14.5 million viewers during Season 1 and has been key to CBS’s Monday ratings improvement. Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS entertainment, said that the freshman dramas have made a significant impact on key nights of the week. The CBS announced on January 12, 2015, that “Scorpion” and other hit freshman dramas have been renewed for the 2015-2016 broadcast season.
