‘Scandal’ Season 6 Olivia Pope Loves Jake But Just Needed to Put their Relationship on Hold, Says Actor Scott Foley!

Fans of the American political drama TV series “Scandal” on ABC very well know that the main romantic pair in the show is Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, and President Fitzgerald ‘Fitz’ Grant, played by Tony Goldwyn, which is why there are plenty of ‘Olitz’ shippers around.

But actor Scott Foley, who plays Jake Ballard in the TV series, has another take on the issue which is sure to raise alarm bells among shippers of Olitz.

He said that Olivia Pope actually loves Jake and that she has previously chosen Jake but certain circumstances have just gotten in the way of their relationship, notes Movie News Guide.

Foley said that the White House crisis manager previously made a plan with the intelligence agent to run away on his wedding day but Rowan Pope, played by Joe Morton, got in the way by threatening Olivia with Jake’s life.

So Olivia was forced to say to Jake that she does not love him and has never loved him because she loves Fitz. Jake ended up becoming the running mate of Mellie, played by Bellamy Young, instead.

The actor said that Olivia and Jake have no choice thereafter but to put their relationship on hold for a while or until things get a little better.

He added that Jake always loves to run away with Olivia and to live their lives peacefully but during the Season 5 finale, Olivia was quoted as telling Jake to put on his tie and just get out because the crisis manager thinks it’s all about business now.

No pregnancy in the Season 6 storyline

There are also rumors saying that the real-life pregnancy of Kerry Washington might be written in as part of the story for the upcoming Season 6 of “Scandal” due to premiere next year.

But some critics doubt the ongoing speculations because Washington’s character Olivia Pope cannot be picture raising her own kid given her point of views and critical position in the White House, notes E! Online.

It would also be absurd to include a baby in the busy and very dangerous world of politics. Both Kerry Washington and the show writers also feel the same way and confirmed there are no plans to include her real-life pregnancy to the storyline of “Scandal” Season 6.

In fact, her pregnancy is actually the reason why “Scandal” Season 6 is to be delayed and shortened so that she would have enough time to give birth and recuperate before facing the camera again for the TV series.

Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asogmuha are expecting their second child soon, which will be their second, following the birth of Isabella in April of 2014 or around the end of “Scandal” Season 3.

A summer treat from Netflix

While Season 6 of “Scandal” is long ways off, there are reports saying that it is going to be aired late and that it will be shorter compared to the previous five seasons. And it has nothing to do with the show being canceled soon, which appears to be far from that.

The decision has something to do with the real-life pregnancy of Kerry Washington.

scandal season 4

Still, fans believe that having “Scandal” Season 5 for a summer treat from Netflix is better than watching other TV series or shows that do not measure up with every single episode of Shonda Rhimes’ masterpiece.

For the loyal fans of “Scandal,” they are simply glued to the TV series because of its captivating storylines and great acting from the stars of the show.

The series has also netted some fantastic guest spots over the course of five seasons. The biggest ones were during Seasons 3 and 4 where the TV series had a run of noticeable guest stars in almost every single episode.
