“Scandal” is a show that’s not exactly a stranger to… well, scandals, as the production has quite the history of putting its fans on edge and making them question what’s going to happen next. There are apparently various things planned for the next episodes in season 5, and there have been rumors about some seriously dramatic events coming up. But mostly, the discussions about the upcoming episodes are focused on several specific themes, like manipulation and the ability to push people to do what one wants.
It’s currently speculated that Huck will take the life of Eli Pope, as it looks like Pope has been taken hostage by him, although it’s not quite clear how this situation is going to end up. We saw a preview in which Eli was throwing some cheap shots at Huck and it was an obvious attempt to get him fired up, but we don’t know what kinds of implications this could have on the way the story between the two characters is going to progress. However, Eli does make a point which gets Huck quite aggravated, and this will likely play a major role in the development of the new episode.
From what we can see in the trailer, the trick seemed to work too, as Huck immediately became annoyed and directed his anger at Eli. Is he going to take things too far and kill the other character? This is something that many fans apparently see as a possibility right now, and while it would indeed be a sad development for some who have been following the show, it’s also something that the writers seem to have been planning for a long time.
If there is no death in the end, then in any case the situation between the two characters is going to get tenser and more dramatic over the next episodes, and it’s obvious that the writers of the show want to drive a serious wedge between them. An even bigger one than there already was, which should say something for what’s planned for the future episodes of the show.
There is just about a day left until that episode airs, and it will be interesting to tune in and see what’s been planned for the characters. Are the writers going to change the setup of the show somewhat in order to shift the importance of some of their characters? It’s been rumored before that the show might see some rearrangement in the focus that’s given to certain members of its cast, but we don’t have any specific details about that so far, and of course it’s just a rumor so it might not even be true in the end.
After that episode airs, the show is going into a pause period for a while as it will not be on the screen for some time during the winter. Because of this, fans have been particularly anxious about this episode as it will likely show some more dramatic developments than usual.
Meanwhile, we’ll also see Olivia trying to get around her position at the White House under pressure from Mellie, but this won’t prove very easy for her as there will be a lot that she has to deal with, and in the end we may see her cracking in some way.
