If you have been paying attention at all, you noticed that the fourth season of Scandal is currently about three-fourths done and has brought plenty of drama to the White House. The fourth season of Scandal started back in September 2014 in the United States and will be running 22 full episodes. The fourth season has nine regulars and all of them returned from from season three, eight of them are part of the original cast from the first season.
Just this week, the show tackled a very controversial topic with gay marriage as a high-stakes marriage between two guys was staged in the White House. Most sources are calling the latest episode, “Put a Ring On It”, as being one of the most dramatic of the season. If you know the characters, then you were glad to see you got a glimpse of Cyrus’ first marriage to a woman named Janet. Even though he is gay, Cyrus popped the question, hoping a traditional marriage would give him the ability to run for Congress. As soon as his then wife, found out that he was gay, she ended up leaving him.
That was only the beginning of the drama for this episode in season four of Scandal. It did not take long for Mellie Grant to come out in support of gay marriage with a little bit of help from Olivia. In discussions with Olivia, Mellie even offered to host Cyrus and Michael’s wedding at the White House. This is clearly something that would never happen in today’s world. Clearly, Mellie is in this for the political standpoint since equality is typically a political topic of discussion during most debates.
Even though Cyrus seems to be getting things figured out, former vice president Sally Langston is spending most of this week trying to ruin Cyrus’s life, which has become a reoccurring theme on the show. One of her plans was to call the wedding a sham on live television. The drama did not end there, and more came by way of blackmail between Olivia and Mellie. Scandal season for has been loaded with drama and has been gaining popularity with help of political storylines and modern day drama within the White House.
