The Samsung Galaxy S4 maintained the design of the Samsung Galaxy S3 but the Korean tech giant made some upgrades on the hardware and software features of the device including the ability to detect when a finger is hovered over the screen and also the expanded eye tracking functionality.
Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy S4 to global retail markets in April 2013 through 327 carriers in 155 countries. Upon hitting the retail markets, the Galaxy S4 became the fastest-selling smartphone in Samsung’s history.
The Korean tech giant actually sold 20 million units of Galaxy S4 units worldwide just two months after its release. A little over two years since then, Samsung has sold more than 40 units of its 2013 flagship smartphone to consumers worldwide.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in several variants, with most of them differing only in support for regional network types and bands.
The smartphone uses two processors depending on the region and network compatibility. The North American version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 system-on chip containing a 1.9Ghz Krait 300 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. The other uses Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa system-on-chip that comprises a 1.6 GHz quad-core Cortex A-15 cluster and a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 cluster.
