We’ve been reading various reports about the expected features of the upcoming Samsung Gear S3, and so far it sounds like the company is preparing for a very strong entry into the smartwatch market. They’ve already shown some serious capabilities with the Gear S2 and its predecessor, and they also have some obvious leverage from their popularity on the smartphone market. With the right marketing push, this new release could be an absolute hit that blows away the competition.
It’s expected that Samsung will improve the physical design of the watch and not just its specifications, and there are several reports of a metal body, at least as an option. Other than that, we might also get some new sensors and hardware capabilities, though there are multiple different reports in this regard.
Samsung have apparently been listening to user feedback about their previously released smartwatches, as the ease of use of the devices has been among the main complaints for most users. Now, there are reports claiming that we can expect significant improvements in this regard, with a much sleeker and more streamlined user experience. We also expect a faster, less laggy style of navigation if the watch comes with a better processor and an update on the operating system.
It’s hard to predict exactly what else Samsung could have added to the device, as the smartwatch market is still relatively young and fresh, and developments are coming out all the time. Different companies have taken slightly different approaches to the situation too, and it’s interesting to see how the basic idea has split up into all sorts of unique solutions over time.
Because of this, we expect that the Samsung Gear S3 might even have some features that nobody has managed to predict. Now is the time to expect rapid innovation in this field, as after a while the designs of smartwatches are going to become more streamlined and universal, similar to smartphones. Until then though, we can expect to see many interesting additions to the core design.
Samsung are also expected to present their new Galaxy Tab S3 tablet at the IFA event where the Gear S3 is supposed to make its debut, so maybe we’re going to see the announcement of some special features for extra connectivity between the two devices. Or between the Gear and Samsung’s portable devices in general – there is plenty of opportunity for that right now.
So far, most of what we know about the Gear S3 is in the form of rumors, so we’ll have to wait a month until the IFA arrives to see what they have really been working on. The event is set for September 1, so August should be a month full of rumors and speculation among Samsung’s fans and tech geeks in general. Those who’re looking for a new smartwatch should keep an eye on the rumor stream, as it’s pretty much guaranteed that we’re going to see some interesting news popping up here and there.
Now seems to be a great time to invest in a replacement for a current smartwatch, actually. The market has changed quite a lot and we’re seeing some fresh releases right now, including some upcoming ones like the Samsung Gear S3. Those who have a little more patience should just wait for a couple of months and they should have plenty of attractive options available in front of them.
