Apparently, the arrival of the Galaxy Tab S series less than six months after prompted the Galaxy Tab Pro series’ slowdown.
With the new tablet franchise, the Galaxy Tab Pro series declined in terms of sales and popularity as the latter introduced a noticeable change with Samsung tablets, the use of high-resolution AMOLED screens.
Apart from the AMOLED screens, the Galaxy Tab S tablet series came running with Android 5.0 Lollipop, which was the latest operating system that time.
Phandroid reports that there is still no word regarding a Lollipop or Marshmallow update for the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2.
Galaxy Tab Pro users initially thought that Samsung will be skipping the Lollipop upgrade with their device and will skip to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software update instead as the company has applied the same move to some of their devices.
However, according to an alleged leaked roadmap of the latest Android operating system, neither Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 nor Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 was in the list.
The roadmap reportedly includes the Galaxy Tab S and the Galaxy Tab A-series that will be receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
With Samsung UK’s confirmation, it is unlikely that the tech giant would change its mind and opt for Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 on other regions get another software update. So as far as the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is concerned, the device already has met its end.
By the way, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 won’t be getting any lollipop update, as I have tweeted to Samsung and they said “we’re sorry to give you bad news, but the tab pro won’t be getting any further update.” How is that fair. I’m really angry with Samsung.
