As part of the reputation recovery scheme, Samsung has announced its new addition to the Samsung Galaxy S-series. The launch date is still nowhere close despite how things progressed with the exploding Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Samsung’s profits took nose-dive since they decided to call back on all the sold Samsung galaxy note7 and stop production altogether.
Samsung Galaxy S8 will be a sequel to the Galaxy S7 which has no reports of inflammable devices since its launch in March 2015. The company plans on bringing back its brand value with new technology and easy-to-the-pocket prices. This is a much-awaited event for the reviewers to see whether this would work at all or not.
The normal cycle of release with Samsung has been around late February or early March, but for this, there has been no such announcement made. This is so because considering the fact that Samsung is still trying t figure out what went wrong in the two versions of Note 7 batteries, Samsung wouldn’t prefer speeding the process for S8 and give it a sloppy end, further jeopardizing their reputation.
The release is speculated to be pushed even up till April. Samsung wants to hurry into finding the fault and fixing it to a possibly permanent effect. The new phone’s firmware production has already begun.
The specifications of the phone involve a lot of new exciting additions. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be an edge-to-edge 90 percent screen model. In addition to that, Samsung might get rid of the home button with a finger-print reader and move to an optical sensor which will be located beneath the screen.
As compare to the display resolution of S7, the S8 will have a 5.5-inch 4k resolution of 3,840×2,160 pixel Super AMOLED display with impressive pixel density of 806ppi which is superior to the predecessor model. The screen of the S8 could have the same curve on the screen as that of Edge. This will hold good for both the variants of the S8, which will come in 5.7 inches and a 6.2-inch display.
The two size variants of the display of S8 will be bigger than the previous phones, and its aim is to cater to users with a demand for large as well as handy screen phones.
The company will add to the recent trend brought on by iPhone 7Plus of having two cameras on the back. This is not the only feature that Samsung seems to have been inspired about by Apple. Samsung Galaxy S8 will also have a pressure-sensitive screen. This will give Samsung users the same handling experience as that of Apple’s 3D Touch.
Samsung won’t be the first to bring in a 3D Touch like feature. Before this, Huawei’s Mate S holds the position of being the first Android phone to have a forced touch technology. Galaxy S8 will incorporate the forced touch partially, but the complete adoption will be out in the version that comes in one or two years after.
The phone is also said to have a digital assistant called Bixby with a dedicated launch button which clearly suggests a competitor for Apple’s Siri. To back this rumor up, Samsung has already bought AI startup Viv which was the company that brought about Siri into existence.
Bringing about Bixby would reduce Samsung’s dependency on Google for search and assistance options. Samsung is also expected to lose the 3.5mm headphone jack in its upcoming models.
