The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 is still six months away which clearly means that people are talking about this device right now. Since details about upcoming phones always make rounds on the internet, the same can be expected with the Galaxy S8 as well.
There is already ample information regarding the display and the absence or presence of headphone jack along with rumours involving the release date of the device. According to the latest reports, the Galaxy S8 will feature a 5.5inch Super AMOLED display with 4K display resolution and a massive pixel density of 806ppi.
It will have a dual-rear camera along with an iris scanner. It will have a 12MP S5KPL22 sensor and a 13MP Sony sensor, produced by Sony. It will also feature an 8-megapixel shooter on the front.
Keep in mind that these are merely speculations but reports suggest that the next-generation flagship smartphone from Samsung will come in two different variants: One with a 5.1inch display and another with a 5.5-inch display.
Both of these devices will have curved-Edge displays. As a result, it is safe to assume that the price of the 5.1 flagships should be higher compared to that of its S7 counterpart. With Apple releasing a phone without a headphone jack, people are wondering whether Samsung will be doing the same.
Not a lot of people are happy with Apple’s decision; therefore, tech experts are not sure whether it would be wise for the Korean giant to follow Apple in this aspect.
According to a certain report, the company is heavily focusing on bringing out a headphone jack designed by the company itself. Another report suggests that the new headphone jack to be featured on the Galaxy S8 will not be USB Type-C.
According to some sources, it will be compatible with that of the iPhone. Samsung is hoping that fans will support the new ideas regarding no-Apple-allowed proprietary jack and give it preference over the old Lightning Headphones. In this manner, users with older Apple products will be the owner of more interesting audio products.
Screen sizes and headphone jacks are all that’s being talked about right now. However, do we still know the codename for the upcoming Samsung device? Reports indicate that the two variants of Galaxy S8, has been codenamed Dream 1 and Dream 2, but their model numbers will be SM-G950 and SM-G955.
When can you expect these devices to be released? It is believed that Samsung will launch these devices on 26th February 2017. It is common knowledge that Samsung unveils their flagship smartphones about a day before Mobile World Congress.
The S8 should follow the same pattern as well. Now, regarding price, expectations suggest that the next handset will be priced similarly to the predecessor, Galaxy S7. The smaller variant could come at a price from $649-$699, and the larger version should be available at a price of $749-$799.
Meanwhile, there are no leaks which suggest an exact release date for the Samsung Galaxy S8, but it’s quite easy to predict when this device will arrive. At first, you need to see when all its predecessors were released. The release dates are as follows:
- Galaxy S – March 2010
- Galaxy S2 – February 2011
- Galaxy S3 – May 2012
- Galaxy S4 – March 2013
- Galaxy S5 – February 2014
- Galaxy S6 – March 2015
- Galaxy S7 – February 2016
It is clear that Samsung likes to launch their new Galaxy S series flagship devices, in the months of February and March. They are usually available for purchase in shops, around 2 to 4 weeks later. Samsung follows this launch pattern due to MWC.
It is a tech show focused on tablets and phones and new devices from Samsung are all unveiled during its Unpacked event which takes place every year.
