Apple got a lot of attention with their announcement of the two new iPhones – the 6s and 6s Plus – and while many people were quick to compare the devices to the Samsung Galaxy S6, claiming that Apple now have an edge over their main competitor, it looks like Samsung are getting ready to fire back. And from the looks of it, they’re actually planning something quite significant, at least if the rumors turn out to be true.
According to those rumors, the device is currently planned for a 2016 launch, although no specific date has been announced yet. The company has been quite active in their releases recently and they’re obviously trying to secure as many market segments as possible, covering different parts of the consumer base as adequately as they can. This is good because Apple are reportedly also developing a new major flagship of their own, and this is shaping up to be quite the heavy battle if both companies decide to make these important releases next year.
So, what can we expect from the rumored Galaxy S7 once it comes out? Most of the rumors are talking about a new chipset, as well as a system on a chip design that will give them an edge in processing capabilities. The Exynos 8890 will be clocked at 2.3 GHz and the phone will also have a Snapdragon 820 in addition to that, combined with 4 GB of RAM and a lot of internal storage space.
This paints quite the interesting picture for the Galaxy S7, and we’re curious to see where things might end up for the company’s new flagship, as it’s shaping up to be an amazing powerhouse on the Android market and a phone that will easily get a lot of attention focused towards Samsung.
There are reports that claim that the company has been having trouble getting the phone to work well with SD cards, although they are reportedly trying hard to get it done. This will be an important part of the phone’s configuration as it will definitely add a lot to the offer if people are able to expand the (already quite large) internal storage memory. Even if that feature isn’t there though, with a 128 GB model rumored to be coming in the lineup it might not be that big of a problem.
It’s worth remembering that the lack of a microSD slot was one of the major disappointments around the Galaxy S6, and one of the features that people have been requesting most often about a new potential flagship. It’s good to see that the company is at least considering the option, but even if they’re not able to implement it, they should still be able to make up for that with a lot of built-in storage and various other options to attract new users. However, there will definitely be some voices of negativity surrounding the launch if the device doesn’t have a memory card slot.
Other than that, it looks like Samsung are planning to improve the imaging capabilities of the device with an even better camera and various new features to make it take even better pictures. It looks like they’re finally catching up to Apple’s idea of advanced image processing instead of relying entirely on a larger sensor and more expensive hardware. Because, regardless of one’s opinion of Apple, it’s true that they handle their image processing quite well.
