Samsung Galaxy S7 Helps Increase Korean Tech Giant’s Operating Profit for First Quarter of 2016!

Less than two months after its official unveiling and just almost a month after making it to the retail markets beginning on March 11, the Samsung Galaxy S7 has already made its big impact on the operating profit of the Korean tech giant for the first quarter of 2016.

The latest flagship smartphone from Samsung is just three weeks in the market during the first quarter of this year but it already helped pushed the company’s first quarter operating profit to $5.7 billion, which is a 10% increase from the same period last year, reports BGR.

Of course, there is also the companion flagship smartphone to consider in the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung is looking at making a solid $42.3 billion in revenues for the first quarter of 2016, which is almost a $2 billion increase from the $40.7 billion in revenues that the Korean tech company generated in the same quarter last year.

The Korean tech company has shipped over 10 million units of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in March, which is why it posted a solid first month of sales.

While the company has not said anything official regarding the Samsung Galaxy S7, the latest flagship smartphone from the Korean tech giant is indeed a big hit in the same way that the company hoped it to be with the smashing success of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge last year.

In addition to excellent sales in the retail markets, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge have received critical acclaim from critics because it has set the bar very high for other flagship smartphones that will be released this year. In particular, Samsung has put the pressure on Apple for its upcoming iPhone 7 to be released in September this year.

Improved and upgraded features

Among the improved features of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge that have been drawing rave reviews from consumers is the return of the microSD card slot, better battery and longer battery life, beautiful displays, and superb camera technology.

The new batteries of Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge have increased the battery by approximately 18% and 40% respectively.

The Android Authority has recently subjected the Samsung Galaxy S7 to several tests. The first of the test was the WiFi browsing test.

The two major versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7, featuring an Exynos chipset and a Snapdragon processor, used in the test were charged and were eventually subjected to a custom WiFi browsing test tool until the battery drained to zero.

The Galaxy S7 powered by the Exynos 7870 processor proves to be slightly better, recording an average screen time of six hours and 48 minutes which is 18 minutes longer than the battery life of the Snapdragon processor which posted a battery life of six hours and 30 minutes.

The second test is the video playback test while the third and final test involves the longevity of each handset, as an indicator of the maximum standby life.

Passing the test with flying colors

Based on the test results, the Galaxy S7 indeed has vastly improved battery life compared to the Galaxy Note 5, with both versions of the Galaxy S7 outscoring the Samsung phablet in two out of three tests.

The formal launching of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on February 21 also validated the reports early in February that the Samsung flagship smartphones had a glaring feature that actually looks odd given the current trend in modern communication devices these days.

Apparently, Samsung has skipped using the USB Type-C port on its 2016 flagship smartphones and stuck with the tried-and-tested microUSB port.

It’s actually a big deal, particularly for gadget critics because USB Type-C port is the future of connecting stuff with other stuff.

When all mobile devices and other computers eventually adopt the USB 3.1 standard, featuring faster data speeds and quicker charging that it entails, Type-C will be the port that shall enable it.
