Samsung Galaxy S7 Could Come Out with Either a Snapdragon or Exynos Processor, or Both

In April, it was reported that Samsung has already removed the possibility of including stock ARM cores in their mobile processor system. According to a different report from Phone Arena, Samsung is trying to create their custom CPU cores. The project was even named “Mongoose.” The new tech will reportedly have an ARMv8 architecture. It was rumored that this project started as early as 2011.

The new custom CPU is said to have a clock speed of 2.3 GHz and it will result to 45 percent increase in the benchmark ranking. The new core will also be better than the Exynos 7420 which is currently placed in the Samsung Galaxy S6. This new CPU can double the performance of what they had released last year, making Samsung on top of every other brand in the world. So far, there are no definite reports on whether this new CPU will be the one that they will use for Samsung Galaxy S7. If not, they could just be testing the new product.

Samsung is also conducting simultaneous reports on the Samsung Exynos M1 core. They could use this as an alternative, just in case their own custom CPU does not reach the timeline.

The Exynos M1 will have a Heterogeneous System Architecture and will have a GPU stream processor to increase the mobility of internal processing. Samsung is also a member of the HAS foundation which unifies tech industry leaders for silicon stringers like MediaTek, Texas Instruments, Imagination Technologies, AMD, Samsung Electronics, ARM, and Qualcomm. This means they have easy access for any development in these areas. They could also partner up with these companies in developing their custom CPU.

There are still too many possibilities for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7. They can use the new Snapdragon 820 or they could use their own CPU which is being developed under the project codenamed “Mongoose.”
