Samsung Galaxy S7 Could Come Out with Either a Snapdragon or Exynos Processor, or Both

Samsung has always highlighted its mission to create the next big thing while trying to outdo Apple as the best smartphone and gadget maker in the world. After the subpar showing of its Samsung Galaxy S5 last year, the Korean tech giant made a rebound with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge this year which were obviously better in a lot of ways than the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched in September last year.

There are rumors that Samsung is now working on the Galaxy S7 for release early next year and accordingly, it would even be better than its predecessor.

There is still very little information about the device, but as of late, a couple of leak images were released online. One set of these images includes a document about the Samsung Galaxy S7. According to the document released by an industry insider, Samsung is experimenting on Qualcomm chipsets to be placed on the Galaxy S7.

The document was codenamed “Jungfrau.” The information in the leaked document shows that the new phone is currently being tested on different stages of development: Base Stage, Resolve Stage, Porting State, Build Stage, Booting Stage and the NILE Stage. Based on the dates, the testing for the EXYNOS5 7420 started on July 17 to 20. The testing for the chipset continued until July 23 to reach the Resolve Stage. On August 4, it has already reached the Build Stage and the Booting Stage started on August 5 and it is still ongoing as of this time.

New chipsets were also indicated in the document. On August 8 to 9, they started testing out MSM8974 and the EXYNOS5 7420 MRA08C. These two tests are still under the Resolve Stage. Then, on August 10, they started testing out the MSM8996 MRA08C. The last chipset is still on the Base Stage testing.

According to the Phone Arena, these tests are for the Android M OS upgrade schedule. Though the document is under the codename “Jungfrau,” there is a reason to believe that it is indeed the new Samsung Galaxy S7. The code names for the internal hardware is also believed to be associated to the Snapdragon 820.

Last July, a report from ET News hinted that Samsung is actually working on their new smartphone. It was stated that the experimentation period is actually nothing new since there is a 12-month cycle for Samsung’s releases and it would be a good thing to see their next flagship release for next year.

The leaked documents also proved that Samsung is not fully shying away from Qualcomm products as other rumors had suggested. If these testing documents were to be believed, Samsung will not only add Qualcomm in its new product line but will also have an Exynos power inside. Others suggest that Samsung might actually offer two variants for the Samsung Galaxy S7, one for the Qualcomm device, and the other for Exynos. On the other hand, there could be a possibility that Samsung has not pinned the exact internal power for their device yet. If this is the case their next big thing might hit some delay in its production period.
