The market for smartphones is a tough one. With the smartphone becoming a necessity in today’s life, each company is set to out-do others when it comes to technology. With the Korean based Samsung realising that the market is swaying in favour of their rival Apple, they have been quick to come up with their latest product – Samsung Galaxy S6.
Samsung has lost the fat share of the market that it had been enjoying since the launch of smartphones like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus from Apple, Nexus from Google and Sony’s Xperia Z3. There had been much speculation about why the tech company has gone silent after their beefy chunk of the market was shared by others.
There have been reports of Samsung suffering huge losses after the launch of competing products in the market. Their Galaxy S and the Note series also did not do much good. After this debacle, Samsung is coming up with Galaxy S6 to regain lost ground.
Samsung is super confident that the Galaxy S6 is going to help them climb back to the top slot in the smartphone market. Here is a quick overview of what to expect from Samsung’s next launch.
Samsung Galaxy S6 will be the first phone with “ultra fast Wi-Fi”. A few weeks back, Samsung had announced the upcoming WiGig, the Wi-Fi Alliance’s 802.11ad standard. This innovation in Wi-Fi connection will give a huge boost to the speed of data transmission. Set at 60 GHz, it will allow users to download a 1 GB file at a record speed of just three seconds. Samsung had earlier tried but failed in making faster Wi-Fi. However, if this project is successful then the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be the first phone to have the 60 GHz Wi-Fi.
Samsung Galaxy S6 will have a sleek metallic body. It is set to have a 5.2-inch screen, which is larger than the S4 and S5, with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. Samsung has always been known for their brilliant camera, and S6 will keep up the tradition with a 20 MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization.
With the screen being better and with a high resolution, it is expected that the battery will be improved from the 2800 mAh used in the predecessors. Samsung Galaxy S6 is also rumoured to have a fingerprint and retina scanner.
With such appealing features and specs, Samsung Galaxy S6 is sure to capture the market’s attention. Given the various specs, market experts say that the phone is expected to be priced around $900.
