Most consumers know exactly how this works. The latest smartphone, which has been on the market for a little less than one year, will be easier to afford during the holiday shopping season. The prices for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Edge were dropped for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and that is starting rumors that stores are already trying to make room for the new Samsung Galaxy S7. The S7 is not expected to arrive until the early part of next year, but that is not that far away.
Consumers were treated to some very nice deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday with most smartphone carriers selling the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Edge models at a major discount. If you have been unable to afford an upgrade up to this point, that would have been one of the best times to do so. There will be more discounts as stores try to make some room for the latest model in a few months, but if you can, you might as well upgrade now.
Samsung created one of the most unique smartphones last year and released it along with the Samsung Galaxy S6. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was one that came with a screen that curved around the edges of the phone and even though most consumers were not sure why they wanted the phone, it was purchased by millions. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge also won “Gadget of the Year” at the Pocket-Lint Awards.
The Pocket-Lint Awards were held in Hoxton, East London like they are each year. Samsung was recognized as well as Apple for the watch and the iPad Mini 4 the company released this year. Amazon was also recognized in the Best Home Entertainment Device category. Other winners include Dell, Philips Hue, Leica Q and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for the Best Game. In order to get the winners in each category, there is a panel of judges from the tech industry and the public. They are asked to vote on each category with the total breakdown coming in at 60 percent from the panel, 30 percent from the tech industry and 10 percent coming from the public.
It is nice to see that the panel includes the tech industry’s best names, as well as a little bit from the public. One of the biggest discussions was not in the mobile world, but the 4K television from LG. To go along with that television, Amazon’s Fire TV box with 4K Ultra HD is a perfect partner for it. Back to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung and Apple have been in direct competition over the last few years and Samsung is excepting the same award that Apple did last year for the Apple iPhone 6.
