Samsung Galaxy S6 – How Is the Flagship Holding Up some Time after Its Release, and Is It Still a Good Purchase? Let’s See

Apple just announced a new phone – the iPhone 6s – and this immediately sparked some common discussions within the community of gadget lovers, mostly in the way of comparisons between the new phone and some other popular flagships on the market. More specifically, people have been comparing the iPhone 6s with the Samsung Galaxy S6, and there is a lot of arguing on Internet messaging boards regarding the differences between the two phones, and which one is the better choice.

While normally there should be no argument when comparing a flagship that’s several months old to a phone that was just announced, it’s definitely true that the S6 manages to hold its front quite nicely and the device is still a great choice for Android fans. In fact, it’s probably one of the best deals on the market right now for its price, and it’s no wonder that so many people turned their attention to the S6 as soon as it was announced, and are still discussing it.

The iPhone 6s comes with a hardware upgrade over the regular iPhone 6, and yet some of its specifications are still below those of the Galaxy S6. For example, the screen resolution on the S6 is far better than that of the iPhone 6s, and even the 6s Plus with its 1080p screen. A 1440p resolution on a 5.7 inch display makes this a fantastic multimedia device with a very strong potential for entertainment, and it’s a better offer than what Apple have included in their phone.

However, Apple have a major ace up their sleeve with their new release, as they’ve decided to include 3D touch technology in it. While Apple have been trying to market this as something innovative and original, it’s not the first time a company in the smartphone industry has attempted something like this, but this is probably the first implementation that was actually designed in a successful way.

Is 3D touch actually that useful though? Some people have been questioning the need for extra fidelity of touch controls, claiming that this will actually make things more complicated instead of simplifying them. 3D touch is a bit similar to “Force Touch”, the technology used in Apple’s Watch, something which was expected to carry over to their other models as well. It allows the device to recognize light taps uniquely from longer presses, and this in turn allows developers to give their users many more options for navigation.

While Apple fans have been quick to point out the lack of 3D touch in the Samsung Galaxy S6, it’s also worth noting that this technology will take some time to fully catch on and it’s more of a gimmick right now. App developers will have to adapt to using it properly in their products, and then there will likely be a problem with segmentation as they will likely have to develop separate versions of their apps for older devices that lack the functionality.

The Galaxy S6 has also been noted to have a better camera, at least on the hardware end. 16 megapixels is clearly more than 12, but on the other hand, Apple are also known for having some very advanced image processing software in their devices, which could give them an advantage. Still, people are generally quite satisfied with the camera quality in the S6 and it’s definitely one of the best smartphones for taking quick shots on the market right now.
