Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Selling Like Hotcakes in Dubai

Samsung is on course to reclaim its reputation as the world’s leading smartphone maker, which it let slipped its grasp last year with the less-than-satisfactory sales results of its less-than-satisfying flagship smartphone in 2014, the Samsung Galaxy S5.

But with the launching last month of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and its official release to the retail market this week, the Korean tech giant is well on its way to redeem itself for a forgettable year that was 2014.

When the latest flagship smartphones of Samsung hit the retail markets, consumers swarmed it as if they are a pack of hungry wolves, looking to get hold of perhaps one of today’s best, if not the best smartphone there is.

In Dubai for instance, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge sold like hotcakes on the first two days from the time that they were released in the local market.

Sold out

In fact, Eros Group, the lone distributor of Samsung, Hitachi, TCL and Linksys products in Dubai, said on April 15 that it has sold out 22,000 units of the latest flagship smartphones from the Korean tech giant after the handsets were released on April 13, details Gulf News.

Deepak Babani, CEO of Eros Group, confirmed that the first allotment of Samsung to their company was only 22,000 units for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge combined. And he is proud to say that they have sold out everything on the first two days upon its release to the retail market. He added that the second allotment of Samsung to their company will be arriving within the next couple of days.

The Eros Group CEO said that many UAE consumers are still asking for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets and if supply would not come as scheduled, there will surely be a shortage of the Samsung smartphones in the country.

Babani also said that there are more UAE consumers who are asking for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the ratio is about 65% to 35%. So he expects that if and when the shortage comes, it would most likely hit the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge first.

First smartphones with dual-edge displays

What makes the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge unique over other flagship smartphones in the market today is the fact that they are the world’s first smartphones with dual-edge display.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge features a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. With its 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, it offers users an impeccably sharp viewing experience.

Because of its use of glassblowers and artisan metalsmiths, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge represents a seamless fusion of glass and metal.

The smartphone also features a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera that comes with optical image stabilization, fast tracking auto focus and F1.9 aperture. It has a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge also offer fast charging technology since 10 minutes of charging already equates to four hours of continued use. And these are just some of the key features of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones because there are a lot more.
