Yes! We thought it was time for these smart phones to be pitched against one another. With most smartphone giants unleashing their juggernauts into the market, we are afraid these two devices will soon be forgotten. Well, at least the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is sure to be forgotten soon.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 reigned the market segment ever since its launch in November 2013. But, now as we approach November 2014, it is time to bid adieu to this masterpiece as there are newer and more capable versions available in the market. Just for amusement, we thought it would be an interesting pair up to compare it to the latest in Samsung’s S lineup of smartphones – The Samsung Galaxy S5.
There is a huge void between the prices of the two phones – The Galaxy S5 costs more than double the price of Galaxy Grand 2. This is reason enough to compare these two phones to see, how the Koreans have balanced them on the feature scale according to their prices. The results are surprising indeed.
The Galaxy Grand 2 has a 5.2-inch screen while the Galaxy S5 boasts of a 5.1-inch screen. The difference however minor still stands in favor of our weak player here. The dimensions of the Grand 2 are 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm while that of the Galaxy S5 is 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm. You can easily notice the compactness that comes along with the hefty price of the Galaxy S5. It is much thinner and compact than the Grand 2, and also weighs less at 145g as opposed to the Grand 2 at 165g.
Battery durability is not much of a talk between these two phones. The Samsung Galaxy S5 draws power from a 2800 mAh battery while the other has a 2600 mAh battery. Honestly speaking, this is not a huge difference to bank upon. The 2800 mAh battery may just not be enough to run the battery intensive super applications of the Galaxy S5 whereas the Grand 2, which is not that feature-rich, might still be retaining a lot of horsepower when the former might be bleeding red.
Both the smartphones are available in Black and White variants, but there is a Pink version available on the Grand 2. We don’t think it’s viable to talk about the Processor, and Resolution, RAM, Storage and Camera aspects of these two phones as the Galaxy S5 is way superior in terms of these specs.
What sets the Galaxy S5 apart from all these traditional high-end features that a Smartphone manufacturer must pack into a top-end phone is the Signature S Health App that is built into the phone. The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner for added protection. This scanner, if you are not aware of, is built into the home button.
What do you think of this nasty comparison between the Galaxy S5 and the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2? It was just our way of saying that the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 was quite a player in its price range and it’s still a viable option for people who want a bigger screen and Samsung’s reliability in their pockets.
