Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. OnePlus One vs. HTC One M7: Two Oldies Take on a Cyanogen-Powered Beast!

While a lot of new smartphones are coming up in the global market, the latest updates are getting rolled out for the last-generation devices. As a result, people have their eyes set for the older devices at comparatively lower prices. Let’s take a look at how the OnePlus One far against the Samsung’s last generation flagship, Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M7.

Samsung Galaxy S5:

The Samsung Galaxy S5, like all other premium Samsung devices, has a brilliant Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and 432ppi pixel density on a 5.1-inch screen. Samsung decided to go with Apple and included a PayPal certified Fingerprint sensor. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It comes with two different variants at 16/32GB and runs on 2GB of RAM. The storage capacity can be increased to 128GB using a micro SD card.

The primary camera is a 16MP shooter which comes with LED flash and phase detection autofocus. The camera has a 1/2.6” sensor size followed by a 1.12 µm pixel size. Like most cameras, it supports face/smile detection and HDR.

It can record 2160p videos with the rear camera and full HD 1080p videos with the 2MP front camera. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 with a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400CPU architecture and an Adreno 330 GPU. While it now runs on the Android 4.4.2 for now, it has been tagged for a Lollipop update.

 HTC One M7:

The HTC One M7 is the last generation HTC flagship that was released on March 2013. It has a Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors.  It has a display resolution of full HD 1080X1920 pixels with a massive 469ppi pixel density on a 4.7-inch screen. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and runs on HTC Sense UI 5.0.

The forte of this device is its sound. It comes with stereo amplifiers, built in speakers and Beats Audio Sound enhancement. It runs on a Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 Chipset with the Quad-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 CPU architecture and an Adreno 320GPU.

The 4MP ultra pixels camera has autofocus, optical image stabilization and LED flash. It can record full-HD videos and so does the front camera which also comes with HDR. It comes with 32/64GB variants running on 2GB of RAM. The storage is non-expandable.

OnePlus One:

The OnePlus One is currently the most-hyped device in the market running on Android KitKat 4.4 CyanogenMod 11S.  It has a full-HD LTPS LCD 5.5 inch capacitive touchscreen with 401ppi pixel density. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, it has 16/64 GB variants running on 3GB of RAM.

It has a 13MP rear shooter capable of recording 2160p videos at 30fps and a 5MP front camera that records full-HD videos. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset working with the Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU.
