It is now the best time to own a Samsung Galaxy S5, the Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphone last year.
Apparently, prices of the Samsung Galaxy S5 have continued its downward spiral following the official release to the retail markets of its very worthy successor, the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Although Samsung’s 2014 flagship smartphone is a powerful and superb all-around handset with a very good camera and incredible battery life, it rated quite poorly in terms of its design, which was almost identical to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4, and most especially its cheap-looking plastic housing, which was a hand-off from four years ago.
With the emergence of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with its stylish metal uni-body, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes down as the last of Samsung’s flagship smartphones with plastic chassis, notes Expert Reviews.
Despite being a powerful smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was a disappointment for the Korean tech company and it was actually the reason why Samsung lost its grasp on its reign as the world’s top smartphone maker last year to Apple with three consecutive quarters of falling revenues.
Redeeming its lofty status
In an attempt to get back its lofty status in the global smartphone business, Samsung deviated from its flagship production routine by coming up with a new metal chassis for the Samsung Galaxy S6, which was further improved on by the curved screen of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
With the advent of the latest flagship smartphones from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was uncharacteristically not forgotten at all. In fact, it even drew more interests this year than last year as consumers started comparing it to the current flagship smartphones of the Korean tech company.
The good news for practical smartphone users is that prices of the Samsung Galaxy S5 in different parts of the world have continuously fallen as a result of the emergence of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
As a matter of fact, with the current price of Samsung Galaxy S5 in the UK retail markets, users can actually get a savings of as much as $550 compared to getting a Samsung Galaxy S6 under similar two-year contracts with British carriers. That’s a lot of savings for all intents and purposes and from a consumer’s point of view, that is really quite practical.
The upsides of the S5
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has also its several upsides compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6. The latest flagship smartphones of Samsung have become similar to Apple’s iPhones as Samsung completely sealed it off and the back panel now becomes part of the metal uni-body which means that the battery can no longer be replaced too.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a memory card slot so users can upgrade the internal storage of their handsets to store lot of pictures, videos, movies and music. The Samsung Galaxy S6 does not have one so that’s another point against it compared to the Samsung Galaxy S5.
