Apple’s iPhone 6 continued a trend of strong success, as the company managed to please their fans and gave them a nicely updated version of an already good device, so it was not really surprising that the phone saw satisfying sales. However, other companies have been giving Apple some good competition with some of their own devices, such as Samsung with the Galaxy Note Edge, a phone that’s been getting more and more attention by critics lately, even though it’s already been around for a while.
The Galaxy Note Edge is a flagship phone, and it actually costs a bit more than the iPhone, even though Apple’s devices are commonly claimed to be the most expensive offers on the smartphone market. There’s actually a pretty significant price gap between the two devices for certain storage size variants, and those who’re looking to get the Galaxy Note Edge should really know what they need from their phone.
One area where the Galaxy Note Edge has been enjoying a lot of positive attention, especially compared to the iPhone 6, is its physical durability. The device is commonly touted as very sturdy and reliable, and this is actually a very good time for Samsung to release a strong device like that, after Apple saw themselves in the middle of their “Bendgate” scandal.
Samsung’s phone also has a better screen than the iPhone 6, with a 2560×1440 resolution, and an arguably better image quality (although some reviewers have claimed the opposite, leaning more towards Apple in their preference).
One area where the iPhone 6 does lead is its performance. Benchmarks have reported better scores for Apple’s device compared to the Galaxy Note Edge, and the results are pretty much universal across all benchmarking tools. It should be noted that there is a pretty obvious reason for that though – the operating system. Android is not as optimized for the hardware it runs on compared to Apple’s iOS, as it’s designed to run on a variety of different phones with various configurations, unlike Apple’s very limited design.
Even then, the iPhone doesn’t actually win by that much compared to the Galaxy Note Edge, and Samsung’s phone is still a very respectable offer for power users looking for some serious computing power in their pockets. The phone should be more than capable of handling even the most demanding apps, and it’s a device that can definitely deliver some amazing performance when used correctly. And for the price that Samsung are asking for it, there are hardly better offers in its price range on the market right now – the Galaxy Note Edge is a definite winner for Android power users.
