Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to Feature a Revolutionary Iris Scanner to Unlock the Device and Authenticate Apps!

Samsung is reported to make an announcement on August 2 and speculations are rife that the Korean tech giant may launch and subsequently reveal the official release date for its upcoming phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

As usual, there have been countless rumored features, specifications, and capabilities of the device but the biggest rumor to date is the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 reportedly having the revolutionary iris scanner.

This means that the user needs to use his or her eyes to be able to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and also possibly use it to authenticate apps by simply looking at the camera, details The Verge.

The rumors about the iris scanner for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 stemmed from recent reports that the Korean tech giant has filed for a patent for an iris recognition system.

In addition, shots of the UI for the potential iris scanner also appeared on the Chinese website Weibo a few days ago, which gave the rumor a good leg to stand on.

Features and specifications

Samsung has yet to make an official reveal as to the features of the Galaxy Note 7 but the internet is already filled with its rumored features and specifications.

Sifting through the speculations, consistent among them are reports that the Galaxy Note 7 shall come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and feature the same dual-edge design that the Korean tech giant used with the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The device shall also be powered possibly by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor in the US and the Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset internationally.

The Galaxy Note 7 shall reportedly come with a very generous 6GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. Its base model will come with a built-in internal storage of 64GB and shall likely come with a microSD card slot for possible expansion.

It shall reportedly come with the USB Type-C port and shall come in black, silver, and blue color options.

Given the rumored features of the Galaxy Note 7, there are speculations that when it finally comes out on the market a few weeks after its launching, it would become the most powerful device in the smartphone lineup of the Korean tech giant, which only gives fans more enthusiasm and excitement for the official coming out party of the phablet.

Pricing for the Galaxy Note 7?

As always, the most important consideration for any modern-day device is its price. Considering that Samsung has yet to confirm the rumors and speculations about the reported features and specifications of the Galaxy Note 7, it is unlikely for the Korean tech giant to release its price.

But apparently, pricing information on the Galaxy Note 7 has leaked and it shall reportedly come with a high price, which is expected considering that it promises to be one of the highest specification handsets to go on sale this year, details Forbes.

The Korean tech giant has dramatically increased the pricing of its flagship devices beginning with the premium build of the Galaxy S6 released last year and continued on up to the Galaxy S7 in March this year.

The Galaxy Note range also has a higher price than the flagship Galaxy S lineup considering its size and better specifications.

According to the leaked pricing information, the Galaxy Note 7 shall come out in Europe with a cost of 799 Euros or approximately US$882.

Critics are now saying that the pricing of the Galaxy Note 7, assuming it is on target, will deter some possible buyers but the fact that payment may be spread out over a two-year contract will certainly mitigate the expense.

However, giving the groundbreaking hardware features of the Galaxy Note 7, including its revolutionary iris scanner, the expense may well be worth it.
