Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Probably Getting Dual-Edge Display, Situation Unclear for Other Galaxy Tablets!

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge came out, it introduced a new concept to Samsung’s devices, the dual-edge screen which added a bit of real estate to the device’s input, and allowed for some creative use of the screen for additional control over the operating system. According to recent reports, we’ll likely see that feature in the upcoming Galaxy Note 5, much to the (pleasant) surprise of many fans of the company.

However, it’s not clear if this also applies to other Galaxy tablets being produced by the company – but by the looks of it, other models will probably not get the new feature anytime soon. This, understandably, has been a bit disappointing to Samsung’s fans who have been asking for some innovation in the company’s tablet lineup, but at least the Note 5 is going to get the nice treatment.

Along with that, the Note 5 is rumored to have a 4K display and some extra RAM – in fact, they’re aiming for a 4 GB model, which would certainly be a nice addition to the market. It will also likely be one of the devices to showcase new Android 5 features, although of course it will have the characteristic TouchWiz overlaid on top of the default Android experience. We’ll see what it offers for sure once it’s launched in October, if the current reports are true.

In other somewhat relevant news, Samsung are apparently quite fond of their flexible display design – so fond that they want to introduce it to all of their smartphone devices, at least on the flagship front. The Galaxy Tab S refresh, on the other hand, has been among the devices to be denied the special treatment, as Samsung apparently have no plans to introduce the flexible screen design to it.

In 2015, the company has made it its priority to introduce the flexible display design to as many of their devices as possible, but currently they’re restricting the idea to 7-inch screens and below. They apparently don’t see a lot of market viability in flexible-screen tablets, and don’t want to go for that idea just yet. Of course, this doesn’t mean that they might not change their opinion later, but at least for the time being, the focus is on smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Samsung aren’t traditionally known for strong innovation in the mobile market, but the company has been trying very hard to redefine that part of their image, and their recent devices are certainly spectacular in some very original aspects. We can only hope that the increased popularity will stimulate Samsung to invest even more in their research department, as they definitely have a strong potential on the market in the future.
