Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE Release Date, Specs & Update: Phablet Takes on New Processor!

Samsung is reportedly in the final leg of preparations for the possible launching of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE variant heading to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 next week slated at Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Korean tech giant will most certainly want that its upcoming flagship phablet variant, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE, join the plethora of other mobile devices to be featured in the upcoming event.

While no specific release date has been officially announced by Samsung for its phablet variant in the US and other key markets, the device already has a mid-January 2015 roll out date in South Korea.

Latest update on specifications

Latest information on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE says that Samsung has already dropped Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor for its device as the company decided to settle for an Exynos SoC, reports Mobiletor.com.

The site attributed the information from a Japanese website called Rbmen.

Sam Mobile previously reported that the 5.7-inch phablet would run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. However, on a December 29, 2014 article, the site gave an update following a new leak on the Samsung phablet.

Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE is to be powered by an Exynos 5433 processor with the Shannon 333 modem, as the device has totally ditched the Snapdragon 810 chipset. It is still not clear if the Shannon 333 modem comes from Intel or not.

The two previous versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is available in Exynos (7 Octa) processor and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 chipset.

There has been no explanation from the Korean tech giant or speculation from the techno-buffs why Samsung decided to ditch the Snapdragon 810 chipset in favor of Exynos 5433 for its Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE variant.

But Samsung will still be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset for its upcoming flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S6 expected to roll out to global retail markets in April this year.

Other features remain

Other than the change in the processor, all the other information on the specifications and features of the Samsung Galaxy 4 S-LTE variant remains unchanged.

The device would still be sporting a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touch screen for a display, a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3GB RAM and a 32GB memory storage capacity.

It also has room for expandable storage via a microSD slot capable of accommodating up to 64GB of additional memory space.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 S-LTE shall reportedly have a download speed of up to 300 Mbps through carrier aggregation that can even go as high as 450Mbps.

When it rolls out, the phablet shall be running initially on Android 4.4 KitKat but shall subsequently update to Android 5.0 Lollipop once Samsung gets the green light to have Google’s latest mobile operating system launched over-the-air update to the latest variant of its flagship phablet.
