Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) Leaked Photo Reveals Device Slightly Larger than Predecessor

A few weeks ago, Samsung’s Galaxy J7 ((2016) was certified by China’s TENAA, which gave the public a first look at the smartphone. Earlier this week, a press render for the device has also been revealed.

As per Gadgets TV, press renders that have surfaced are specifically for the China mobile variant. It is still unknown when the device will be released to other regions.

While the South Korean manufacturer has yet to officially unveil the phone, TENAA has already released the official specs of the device.

Samsung’s latest addition to the J series will feature a 5.5-inch super AMOLED screen with a 720 x 1280 resolution. It will be running with the Exynos 7870 SoC under the hood carrying an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU.

This year’s Galaxy J7 will be packed with the Mali T830 GPU, 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of expandable storage. According to leaks, the phone measures 151.7 x 75.9 x 7.6mm and weighs 166 grams.

The phone will sport a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front snapper. It shall also be equipped with 4G LTE connectivity, a 3300mAH battery, and comes running with the latest version of the OS, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Android Authority reports that the Galaxy J7 (2016) is expected to carry a price tag under $300. Besides the TENAA listing, the handset has also been certified in the US by the FCC.

Samsung recently released their latest flagship phones Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Since last year, the tech giant has also made it a point to update their mid-range lines to attract more sales.

Also, they dropped the idea of crafting a Galaxy S6 Mini when they came to the realization that people also like the idea of having phones that have larger screens.

This trend has even led Apple to drop its usual 4-inch design for smartphones and instead come up with slightly larger 4.7-inch and even larger 5.5-inch iPhones.

Samsung’s Galaxy A series, for example, is doing pretty good in the market, especially with their affordable price tags. Their Galaxy J series are expected to have two additional offerings soon with the Galaxy J7 (2016)  and the Galaxy J5 (2016).

The latest addition to the Galaxy J series was last year’s Galaxy J3 which was unveiled before 2015 came to a close.

As per Android Headlines, this year’s Galaxy J7 will be slightly larger than last year’s version. Last year’s Galaxy J7 only featured a 5.2-inch screen.

Another major upgrade from last year is the use of metal chassis instead of the plastic perimeter in last year’s unit.

There are also reports saying that Samsung will be using its mobile payment system, Samsung Pay, to the upcoming device which could be a big leap for its mid-range smartphone lines.

Last year, several leaks of the design and specifications of the upcoming Galaxy J (2016) came out via certification authorities.

Now, a high-resolution image of the Galaxy J7 (2016) has been leaked showing the device’s front panel. Reports say that this will be the model that will be sold in the US unlike the press render leaked which will only be sold in China.

The image leak was courtesy of popular tipster Evan Blass. Blass’ leaked a photo of the device showing the smartphone in white color.

Judging by the photo, the Galaxy J7 (2016) really does look like its predecessor as it features a home button below the display with a capacitive button on either side.

Samsung’s logo can be seen at the top with a speaker grille placed just above it. On the right side, there are sensors and the front-facing camera. The left side is where the front-facing LED is located.

There’s still no exact date when Samsung will release the Galaxy J7 (2016) and the Galaxy J5 (2016), but tech enthusiast can expect it to come out in a few more months as the company is probably still awaiting the sales figures for their latest flagship phones.
