Samsung Galaxy Grand 3: What Can Buyers Expect

Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 started around the time Apple launched the iPhone 6 and its Plus variant, with many people predicting that Samsung would try to compete with the company head-on with a similar offer. And while some rumors were pointing towards the end of 2014 as a possible release date for the new device, this turned out to be false, as the Grand 3 is nowhere to be seen yet. Others were claiming that the phone will come out around the beginning of 2015, although most of those rumors were pretty vague regarding the exact date. When can buyers expect to see the phone on the market, and what will they potentially see in it?

One of the things that have been rumored to be coming with the Galaxy Grand 3 is an even bigger screen than the predecessor. Samsung seem to have a thing for making their phones as large as possible, especially along the horizontal which tends to get neglected by other manufacturers – and the Galaxy Grand 3 is rumored to come with a 5.5 inch screen. Something rather odd coming from the same rumors is the claim that the device will still be running at a 1280×720 resolution. Given that much higher resolutions are becoming the norm nowadays, and that the device is rumored to have a 5.5 inch screen, it would be rather unusual to see it with this resolution.

At the same time, this could also mean a lower price, which would make sense if Samsung want to capture a larger portion of the market than Apple. The company already has an overall good level of popularity with Android fans, but they shouldn’t rely on their prior success too much, especially when Apple are rumored to be coming out with even more interesting devices soon.

On the inside, the phone is rumored to be moderately good but not exactly remarkable – with a 1.2 GHz processor and 1.5 GB of RAM, it should handle most Android applications just fine, although it could lag behind some of its competitors a little bit. The Grand was never meant to be a powerful line of devices in the first place, but when other companies are coming out with devices with as much as 3 GB of RAM, Samsung might want to rethink what they’re giving their own users.

Other than that, the phone is going to offer all expected modern connectivity options, a great battery life, and the familiar Samsung customizations to Android. Other than that, it seems to be a rather standard Android phone, and if it comes at a good price, it could definitely be an attractive offer that might make fans of competitors reconsider.
