Samsung are always quite successful in stirring up hype about their new gadgets, as the company has a pretty loyal following of fans always eager to learn more information about their devices. Recent rumors have been claiming that Samsung are getting ready to launch the Galaxy Grand 3, with specifications that could easily rival another of the company’s own devices, the Galaxy Note 3.
According to rumors, the handset is being designed with the same display as the previous device in the line, the Galaxy Grand 2. Beneath the surface, the phone is rumored to have a quad core Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.2 GHz, as well as 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage (with microSD support), and an upgraded 13 megapixel camera on the back. The front camera is said to have a 5 megapixel sensor, making it a good choice for selfie lovers, a concept that has been getting more and more popular in the industry lately.
Perhaps somewhat strangely, the phone is also rumored to ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. While the operating system version isn’t that old, it would be a bit unacceptable for an Android phone to ship with something lower than 5.0 Lollipop in 2015, especially a device with overall good hardware specifications. Of course, the rumors could have been from an early source, as such an announcement would have made more sense one or two months ago, but it’s still strange for Samsung to even consider a new flagship phone with Android 4.4.4, even with all of the modifications they do to their software.
Other than that, the new Grand 3 is reportedly going to have a very familiar physical form factor, following the same design as the previous entry in the line, although Samsung have managed to make it a bit lighter and thinner than the Grand 2, if rumors are to be believed. The new phone will bring the weight down by about 15 grams, and will also be thinner by one millimeter, which is not little in the context of a device less than 1cm thick.
Also, rumors say that Samsung are looking to make the phone a bit more colorful, shipping it in multiple different color selections, instead of just the standard black and white versions that have been rumored before. And while it isn’t known when the company is going to unveil the new phone, rumors state that the announcement is scheduled for some time until the end of January. Which doesn’t leave many possibilities, if it’s true – if Samsung don’t announce the phone by the end of this week, then some of the rumors were definitely false.
