The Samsung Galaxy Gear S is one of the most anticipated smart watches of 2015, even though the Motorola Moto 360 has carved out a special spot in the class. Samsung is fairly experienced in the art of smart watch making as the Galaxy Gear was fairly successful. However, this is Motorola’s first time in the arena, although, they have performed like a professional!
The Moto 360 is one of the most impressive devices that we have come across so far, not just in terms of performance, but also in terms of exterior dynamics and aesthetics. The smart watch is based on a rounded, classic design and features numerous customization options that enhance its general wear-ability.
Even though both devices feature similar performance, the major difference is the synchronization capability of the devices. While the Samsung Galaxy Gear S is compatible with most devices from Samsung, the Moto 360 connects to every Android device running on Jelly Bean or higher.
Even though Samsung us yet to launch the Galaxy Gear S, enthusiasts have been pestering the company to reveal some of the details soon. An extensive comparison between both these devices will be made soon as we know far too less at the moment.
The Moto 360 features built-in 3G radio and GPS and can connect over Wi-Fi. We are not sure if Samsung plans on incorporating such features to their upcoming Galaxy Gear S as the previous variant did not sport these functionalities. The Samsung Galaxy Gear S runs on Tizen OS while the Moto 360 features Android Wear.
Apple and LG are also in the race for domination. Although, both their devices are still a long way off from being unveiled. Hence, Motorola is the sole contender at the moment. However, that is about to change soon as Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Gear S by November 7th.
The only problem with the Moto 360 is the battery drainage issue, which Google has been unable to solve. This is the result of a minor defect with Android Wear. Samsung’s decision to opt for Tizen could be a game changer. However, both these smart watches feature entirely different ergonomics and should hence cater to entirely different customer bases. Stay tuned for additional news, reports and updates on the Samsung Galaxy Gear S and Motorola Moto 360.
Samsung’s experience gives the Korean giant the upper hand, although, Moto’s classic round shape gives it an edge. Moto however is not the only manufacturer to opt for the classic design, as rival LG’s G Watch R also features a similar design.
