Samsung Galaxy Gear S on Sale in the US through Major Carriers!

Smartwatches are becoming more and more prominent, even though just until recently nobody really took the trend seriously. And while it’s true that it’s a niche market, not something that everyone would want to get their hands on, it’s still hard to argue how much a good smartwatch can do for you. Samsung’s latest offering in this field, the Galaxy Gear S, has now been on sale in the US for a few days.

Interested buyers can get their hands on the device through the major US carriers, with AT&T and Sprint being the first ones to announce the device’s availability in their stores. T-Mobile followed suit shortly after, and currently, users have several options for obtaining the Galaxy Gear S. AT&T are offering it for $199.99 on a two-year contract, or $299 for just the device. Alternatively, you can get it through Sprint on a monthly payment program and not have to worry about an initial payment, if you’re comfortable paying off your smartwatch for the next 2 years.

The watch itself has been the logical next step in a long-running line of products by Samsung. Even though for a majority of people, Apple’s iWatch was their first glimpse into the world of smartwatches, this isn’t such a new market when you consider Samsung’s previous products, and the company has been refining their offers for quite a long time now. Samsung have been experimenting with various ideas regarding the design of a smartwatch, removing components that have proven to not mesh well with the interface, while also adding improvements and refinements to make the experience even more intuitive.

The physical design of the Samsung Galaxy Gear S is one of its strongest points, as it seems that the company has put quite the effort into the device’s development this time. Its curved shape and smooth materials make for a very comfortable wearing experience, and the improved interface means that you’ll never have trouble finding the options you’re looking for, and you’ll always have all the information you need with just a quick glance.

Whether smartwatches will prevail and stick around, or if they’re just a passing fad made popular by Apple for a brief period of time, is hard to tell at the moment. The public interest in these devices is still relatively fresh, and the situation can realistically go either way. It’s mainly up to the manufacturers and designers to come up with interesting solutions that can convince the skeptics that there is actually a point in using a smartwatch. Samsung seem to be doing a fantastic job at that so far, and it’s hard to deny Apple’s contribution to popularizing the concept as well.
