Ryan Reynolds Gives Preview of Prototype ‘Deadpool’ Mask!

It’s the season for the superheroes yet again following the groundbreaking deal between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced at the start of the week paving the way for the formal entry of Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic universe.

Not to be left out, another Marvel comics superhero film will be showing on February 12, 2016 but this superhero will not be going into the Marvel cinematic universe just yet. Because just like the movie rights to the X-Men, Marvel Studios has yet to work out a deal with 20th Century Fox for it.

“Deadpool” starring Ryan Reynolds is due to hit theaters early next year and filming will reportedly begin in Vancouver, Canada very soon, notes IGN.

Deadpool is a fictional character, a mutant, who is both a mercenary and anti-superhero from Marvel Comics. As a superhero in disguise, his alter ego is Wade Winston Wilson.

A disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary, Deadpool originally appeared as a villain in an issue of “New Mutants,” and later in issues of “X-Force.” Also known as the ‘Merc with a Mouth,’ Deadpool is famous for his talkative nature and his tendency to break the fourth wall.

The superhero character is a mutant and is basically categorized by Marvel comics enthusiasts as part of the X-Men. In fact, Ryan Reynolds already appeared as “Deadpool” in the 2009 movie: “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” starring Hugh Jackman as the mutant with the steel blade claws.

A sneak peek

On February 12, Ryan Reynolds posted on Twitter an image of him looking at the prototype mask of Deadpool as well as the gloves of the superhero character, which he will be taking on soon again.

Reynolds timed the post on the exact date that “Deadpool” will be hitting the theaters next year. He added in the caption that there is only 365 sleeps to go before the movie is shown, notes Yahoo! Celebrity.

He also captioned his tweet that he intentionally had the posted image in sepia to camouflage the fact that the real color of the “Deadpool” costume was ballerina pink. Of course, Reynolds was joking since in the Marvel comics, Deadpool’s costume was in glaring red. But during “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” he appeared as Deadpool wearing a dark gray suit and a flesh mask with black to complete it.

Director and possible female lead

Aside from Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, Tim Miller is already confirmed as director for the superhero movie. But a female lead has yet to be confirmed by Fox as of this time.

Accordingly, the production outfit is choosing among six frontrunners to take on the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds, all of them from various TV series.

They include Morena Baccarin of “Gotham;” Taylor Schilling of “Orange is the New Black;” Crystal Reed of “Teen Wolf;” Rebecca Rittenhouse of “The Red Band Society;” Sarah Greene of “Vikings Noble;” and Jessica De Gouw of “Arrow.”
