“Elle” was the only film other than “La La Land” to receive more than one wins, with the French movie winning Best Foreign Language Film and Isabelle Huppert winning as Best Actress in a Motion Picture.
Presenters for the awards included Ben Affleck, Drew Barrymore, Gal Gadot, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Matt Damon among others. Brad Pitt also made a surprise appearance when he introduced “Moonlight.”
Pitt made a solo entrance to the event and made his first television appearance since his split with former wife, Angelina Jolie.
In the television department, “The Night Manager” brought home the most awards with three. “Atlanta, The Crown,” and “The People v. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story” tied for second place with two wins each.
Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Culman, and Hugh Laurie all won acting awards for their performances in “The Night Manager.”
“‘American Crime Story” was awarded Best Mini-series or Television Film and Sarah Paulson won Best Actress in a Mini-series or TV Film for her portrayal of Marcia Clark.
“The Crown” won Best Drama Series while “Atlanta” brought home the Best Musical or Comedy Series award. Donald Glover and Billy Bob Thornton also received acting awards for their performances in “Atlanta” and “Goliath,” respectively.
