Sorry “Divergent” fans, but it looks like Shailene Woodley and Theo James would only get together in the Divergent world as their respective characters Tris Prior and Tobias ‘Four’ Eaton.
After reports came out saying Theo James and his long-time girlfriend Ruth Kearney are engaged, it looks like the two have already set plans to tie the knot soon.
According to Movie News Guide, the pair plans to exchange ‘I Dos’ after the final “Divergent” movie – “Divergent: Ascendant” – comes out. If this is true, then wedding bells will be ringing for the pair sometime in 2017.
The “Divergent” series, which is based on Veronica Roth’s novels of the same titles, has a strong fan base especially with its lead characters. It would be a necessary move for Theo to finish his commitments with “Divergent” movie first before marrying Kearney.
News that the 30-year-old British actor and his ladylove were engaged put to bed consistent break-up rumors between the pair as well as all controversies involving his leading lady.
Although no official word from both parties has been made yet, the couple’s sighting in New York City late last month further strengthens the pair’s engagement rumors. The couple is known to be very private about their relationship.
Ever since James and Woodley were cast to play the leads in the dystopian film series, fans have been pushing very hard that the two take their intense on-screen chemistry in real life.
Fans have been insisting about it despite the six-year relationship of James with Kearney and their appearances together in red carpet events. The “Golden Boy” actor has been rumored that he and his Irish beau have split because of his growing relationship with Woodley.
While both have been very vocal about their fondness for each other, they also have expressed in almost all of their interviews that nothing is going on between them. The “Fault in Our Stars” actress has been consistent in claiming that she and her “Divergent” film series leading man are just good friends.
This isn’t the first time that Shailene was linked to her co-star. In fact, the 23-year-old actress was linked with her “Spectacular Now” co-star Miles Teller and her “Fault in Our Stars” leading man Ansel Elgort, both of whom she co-stars with in the “Divergent” films.
According to Realty Today, fans of Shailene and Theo, collectively known as Sheo, might not be able to see more of their favorite onscreen couple as the stars are now ready to work individually and bid farewell to their beloved characters.
Movie News Guide reports that despite their characters Tris and Four set to hit the big screen until 2017, both stars will now have some time off away with each other to avoid jealousy issues with Kearney.
The British actor is apparently trying his best to avoid getting involved with Woodley as it will result in an endless cycle of rumored romance between them amid having a serious relationship with Ruth.
The “Underworld: Awakening” actor has been tapped to do two new movies, one of which is reprising his role as David in the fifth installment of the “Underworld” series alongside Kate Beckinsale.
Shai, on the other hand, will also have her hands full with her future projects. The “White Bird in a Blizzard” actress is currently working on Oliver Stone’s thriller movie “Snowden” set to premiere next year.
But before Shai and Theo go on different ways, their fans can catch Tris and Four get into some action with the final two movies slated for March 2016 and March 2017 releases.
The final two films is based on Roth’s third book “Allegiant.” Initially the films were titled “Divergent: Allegiant Part 1” and “Divergent: Allegiant Part 2,” but last month, it was revealed that the final film will be officially titled “Divergent: Ascendant” while the third movie will be called “Divergent: Allegiant.”
With news of a renamed fourth film, fans of the YA novel continue to hope that an alternate ending for Tris’ character is in the works. For those who haven’t caught up with the book, Tris ends up sacrificing herself at the series’ end.
