There were also some interesting rumors regarding people involved in the flight – it’s claimed that one of the pilots actually had ulterior motives and was planning to use the flight for malicious purposes. It’s not clear if there is any truth to these rumors or not, as they do seem to be coming from unreliable sources, but they do definitely sound worrying in light of another recent aircraft incident caused by a malicious pilot.
According to those rumors, the pilot wanted to take “provocative action” with the airplane against a US military base in Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean. As we said above though, those rumors were never confirmed.
It could paint a very strange picture however, as if it turns out that this was true, it would point the finger towards the US military. Nobody has brought this up as a serious theory so far, but it would change the tone of the discussions about the missing plane significantly. It could also cause some serious international tensions, so hopefully we aren’t going to get to that situation.
