Season 6 of the Canadian police drama TV series “Rookie Blue” is turning ‘soapy’ as the show focuses on how Andy McNally, played by Missy Peregrym, decides to accept and be with boyfriend Sam Swarek, played by Ben Bass, even with his recent admission that he is fathering a baby with his ex-girlfriend, Marlo Cruz, portrayed by Rachael Ancheril.
The plot is quite complicated and has all the shades of a soap opera written all over it that actress Missy Peregrym is torn whenever she thinks of how she would deal with a similar situation in real life, notes Enstarz.
Showrunner Tassie Cameron also disclosed how the actress reacted when she was made privy to the particularly plot of Season 6. The executive producer recalled Missy saying that it was a terrible situation and that she doesn’t know what she would do, which is what Cameron likes about Missy because she is very emotional, sensitive, and really connects with her character Andy.
Cameron said that Missy really brought a lot of confusion and pain to Andy’s dilemma because dealing with the issue is really a huge struggle for her character as well as in real-life.
When Sam broke the baby news to Andy in the premier episode, she was tempted to run away from the situation like she has done so when things really get rough and tough consistent with the attributes of her character in the previous seasons of the series.
Andy has been known to take off and run away sometimes especially if she panics or get scared which is almost often the perfect situation for failure.
Accepting the new dynamic
But eventually when she came to her senses, Andy accepted the fact and just try to find a way to fit into the new dynamic despite her obvious struggle to deal with it.
She still took back Sam despite his admission because of his honesty and she really feels for him. Although she has long wanted to have a perfect family for herself in the not-so-distant future, she nonetheless believes that there is no such thing as the perfect family, details TV Line.
However, what Andy said to Sam in the latest episode of “Rookie Blue” was what got into the emotions of the loyal viewers of the series obviously.
She said that she wanted to be the woman to make Sam a father, but it seems that somebody already beat her to the draw. However, she added that she will not fold because of the situation. While she admitted that she has no idea of how to handle the situation, she knows that it is not going to be easy.
Andy also assured Sam that she loves him and that she will show up with him and the two of them will figure out how to handle it. She also told Sam that there is not to going to be a day where Sam’s child by Marlo would not feel wanted or loved by her.
Possibly the final season
Season 6 of “Rookie Blue” has premiered in its home country in May on Global TV network and just debuted on ABC in the US on June 25.
However, fans should know that the show’s Season 6 was originally produced as the second half of a 22-episode Season 5 but was later on repackaged and re-branded as the sixth season of the series.
What this means is that the stars of the show have not done any additional filming for Season 6 as what is being shown both in Canada and the US are episodes that have already been shot for Season 5 last year.
